I am looking for someone that can make a custom cluster bezel with the original screw ears(to dash). I am installing two 5" Autometer gauges and six 2"5/8. I want to use a stainless steel or aluminum product...More details to anyone that has the ability to fabricate this....Let me know...asap.

I am also looking for someone who makes custom gauges for '90-'92 Camaros. I need something that will fit AutoMeter gauges. There are several out there, but they are manufactured for '82 to '89 Camaros. If anyone has made these before or knows who makes them, the info would be greatly appreciated. Pictures would be nice too. Thanks.

I have one of those in brushed metal that I bought for my old 83 z28 and it will not work for 90-92. Might be worth a swap but I like the more modern cluster so I hope your good with fiber glass because that is your last resort.

I have made stuff for the 90-92 clusters, I made mine out of alum, for my gauges, I decited not to use it, reson is i found the older dash for my car so im using that, but i can make whatever...

Here's one I made for my T/A. Basically used a factory bezel, cut out the center part and made a replacement for it. The whole assembly bolts into the dash just like the factory bezel.

1/4 inch abs plastic, doesn't look pretty on the parts that aren't shown, but installed looks great, i was able to reuse all the stock bolt holes and bolts.

I made my own dash for my '86. I wasn't going to spend $700 for plastic junk. The panel is flat, so it was a simple matter of making an aluminum plate the same shape and laying out the gauges I wanted. I did do this in AutoCAD because I have the program and know how to use it, but you could do the same thing with carboard templates and trial and error. Remember that a 5" gauge goes into a 4-5/8" hole, don't ask me why that is, but a 5" hole is way too big (the gauge will fall into it). I also made a four gauge pod across my dash to the left of the main cluster. I used mild steel for the body, aluminum for the face plates, and mounted some switches too. I coated the body with wrinkle finish paint and it all looks like it grew threre. People constantly ask me where I bought it (man, that's a great compliment in my book!)

The later model dashes are a bit more complicated, but the same techniques apply. I am finishing up a new cluster I made for my '87 K5 and it is way more complicated than any dash in any third gen. The dash incorporates two AC vents, the heater control panel, the indicator for the the transmission lever, and the radio. I used the same concept though; steel frame with aluminum face plates. I had to carefully cut and weld the aluminum to get the contours right, and I metal finished the welds so it looks like one piece (yes, I'm pretty proud of that). It bolts in like stock, accepts all the stock parts, and also houses a 5" tach and speedo and four other smaller gauges (I used 2-1/16" due to space constraints). It also holds and properly supports a DIN style head unit, which my hacked up stock dash never really did.

The secret to this stuff is all trial and error. Raw materials are cheap. You may need two or three attempts to get what you want. You can always cut and weld and add or remove material. It just take time and patience. No one taught me anything. I read a book, some articles, and praticed a lot. That's the best way to do it.

You have any pics of the stuff for the 86? I also have autocad.So is there alot of room behind there so I can pretty much put the gauges where I want to? I'm a tool & Die maker so I have the machines at work .
