Car: 1985 Trans Am
Engine: 400
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.70
FS/WTT: 85 T/A $7000 Nebraska; Really Fast, Really Clean
[*]Location - Seward, Nebraska
[*]Year - 1985
[*]Make - Pontiac
[*]Model - Trans Am
[*]VIN - 1G2FW87HXFL646385
[*]Trans - 700R4
[*]Mileage - 143,000
[*]Colors (Exterior/Interior) - Exterior - Dark Blue/silver Interior- Charcoal Leather
I'd like $7000, or trade for a nice daily driver, probably a 4th gen f-body, v6 or v8. Feel free to call me at 402-699-9178.
I have owned this car for about the past 8 years and have had a blast driving it and upgrading it. I am sad to have to sell it, but I'm getting married in the fall, and we need the money. The pictures are a very good representation of this car. This is truly one of the cleanest third generation f-bodys around and it has all of the best parts you can get for these cars. For somebody who maybe isn't interested in keeping some of the aftermarket parts on the car after they buy it, I do have most of the stock parts, including the original shifter and console trim plate, 3.08 rearend gears, and the 305 engine which has about 10,000 miles on the rebuild. I also have tons of other extra parts laying around for this thing. If you are the buyer, I will work with you with getting whichever of these parts you would like to have.
Basics: This car is in above-average condition and in my opinion is in near excellent condition. There are a few minor imperfections, but nothing very noticeable. Many people have told me I should show the car, but I never have. Dark Blue with silver gfx hardtop car, 16 x 8 formula rims (the later cool looking ones). Body is in very good condition. The paint is very shiny, as you can see from the reflection of me taking a picture looking down at the hood in one of the pics below. Interior is in excellent condition, and in fact, many people have told me it is the cleanest thirdgen interior they've ever seen. I've got 4th gen trans am graphite leather seats and a B&M megashifter. Everything else is bone stock inside and looks amazing.. The A/C even works. The dash pad is absolutley amazing and is in pristine condition. The stereo is top of the line Eclipse.
Chassis: 1LE swaybars, factory "wonderbar" steering brace, steering linkage just replaced this winter, front brakes totally new about 2 years ago, Alston SFC's, Spohn torque arm, J&M products rear LCA's, Guldstrand Motorsports Panhard bar, 9-bolt with 3.70 gears installed 2 years ago. The guy that did it for me said the whole rearend looked like it was in perfect condition. There is no rust on this car.
Engine/tranny: 400sbc, bored .030, forged TRW rods/pistons 9.1:1, Moroso 7 quart oil pan, Comp Cams 286 HR10 magnum roller with all accompanying valvetrain goodies, 1.52 full roller comp cams rockers, ported Sportsman II heads with stainless swirl polish valves, Pro Products crosswind intake (RPM Airgap), Holley 3310 carb, L-88 drop base w/3" K&N, Mallory 85 series HEI, Flowtech coated headers/SLP 3" LM exhaust. 700R4 with heavy duty internals and 2000 rpm stall converter with B&M electronic lockup control kit (really slick part). I've also installed a brand new 3-core radiator and am running a vacuum reservoir and the brakes work great. The engine has about 8000 miles on it and the tranny is near new.

I've done all of the work myself, but I'm sure I can find most of the receipts for the parts I've bought for it. I just put the engine and tranny in it this winter, so I haven't even had time to take it to the track or anything like that. Since I started doing the engine/tranny swapy, I got engaged and am getting married next month, which doesn't sit too well with having crazy fast, loud cars.
The car currently has the stock 2.25" exhaust on it, and with it connected, isn't near as fast as it could be. I have cut the pipe open on the y-pipe right where the cat used to be to see what it is like without the restrictive exhaust, and it is extremely fast. If have a 2002 Mustang GT 5 speed, and the T/A will blow the doors off of the Mustang. I do have a 3" SLP Loudmouth exhaust sitting in the garage that will work perfectly on this car, but I haven't had time to get it installed, yet.
The only other two issues I've noticed are: the tranny has a couple small drips from some of the pan bolts. All this simply is is the fact that I just put the tranny in and have only probably put about 200 to 300 miles on it, and the pan bolts just need retorqued and I haven't had the time to jack the car up and get under there and do it. Also, for some reason after the engine swap, the cruise doesn't work. I think I accidentally cut one too many wires, and I haven't had time to track it down yet, but once again, this is a minor problem with an easy/free fix if I just have time to do it. Aside from the marriage, this is the other reason the car has to go; I just don't have time to enjoy it.

My buddy plugged in the engine specs to desktop dyno, and I think it said around 440 hp. Like I have said previously in this post, I have a 2002 Mustang GT 5 speed that has some mods and just stoplight racing have beaten two LS1 cars with it. The T/A is way faster than the Mustang. I'm guessing with a good dyno tune, this should be an easy mid-12 second car. I haven't gotten my 3" SLP exhaust on it yet. With the stock 2.25" catback with only a Flowmaster muffler, it really chokes the engine, but I disconnected it at the y-pipe and it really screams. It runs fine with the stock exhaust hooked up, but just isn't as fast. The car comes with the SLP catback, and if I don't have it installed by the time somebody gets the car, the I can easily crawl underneath and hook up the stock exhaust if you don't want a headache driving it home. When I had it out running the other night, I decided if I put a little negative pinion angle on it by adjusting the torque arm, this car would be darn close to being able to pull the front corner off the ground. I haven't been able to get the car to the track or the dyno, because I simply don't have time, which is part of the reason I'm selling it. When you get married, priorities just change. I'd like to sell it, but if I could trade it for something that I could drive every day the 30 miles I drive each way to work, I would probably do it, and then I could sell my Mustang also, and make the wife really happy.

Car: 2004 Chevy Avalanche
Engine: Some that run, some that don't
Transmission: 700R4's, a T-5, and a Turbo 350
It's tough to move anything over a few thousand bucks here even if the car is a steal. I'm selling an '88 Formula 350 that has over $21,000 invested in it for only $9000 and haven't really had any interested off here. What's worse is that the car only has 35 miles on it since being COMPLETELY redone. There isn't a part on the car that you couldn't eat off of including everything underneath the car. It's like buying a brand new car for half the money. Unfortunately, there just aren't many people on the board with that kind of money to spend.

C'mon guys. This is a steal for a car that is in near show condition that would be competetive on an auto-x track or for some heads-up racing, and still have a killer street car.

Trades for a nice daily driver are welcome. Also, FYI, somebody who is interested in it plugged it into desktop dyno, which said it should run low to mid 12's.

If I didn't buy my LT1 thirdgen a few months ago you would have your asking price in your hand tomorrow. If I only had a little more money and, more importantly, a more understanding woman I'd come get it. Nice ride, good luck selling it!

Too many people drop some huge engine into a t-top car without beefing up the frame at all, and thus, mangled thirdgen. Or, they know better and just don't mess around with a t-top car in the first place. That's why many of the nice modified cars are hardtops. Personally, I wouldn't want a t-top car if I wanted anything fast. And, as for asking price, it's back up to $7000 with stereo. If somebody doesn't want the stereo, we can work something out. I have gotten things situated, so I'm not as desperate to sell anymore, but at $7000 it's still a steal, because the wife would still like me to sell.
