1991 Trans Am L98 T56 *Pics Added* $2000obo
I have decided that I want to go back to 4th gens again and get an ls1 car instead of ls1 swapping this one. I have owned or known the owner of the car for the last 7-8 years. It does need some work but wouldn't take a ton to make it a very nice car.
I recently swapped in the T56 along with a Spec stage 3 clutch and a set of Doug's longtubes. They are a copy of the Hooker 2210 long tubes with 1 3/4 primaries and 3" collectors. I also have a pair of s extensions made by Hedman and a Flowmaster 3" inlet/4" outlet merge (one of the best merges on the market). Car has an SLP single inlet cold air intake as well as an ASP underdrive crank pulley.
The outside is primered in light gray and there are a few small rust spots that I know of. ALL of the gfx are on the car and none are broken as far as I can tell. Even the hard to find front pieces. The car was an original Gunmetal Gray car with a light gray interior. I do have all of the plastics inside and to my knowledge none are broken or cracked. Dash pad is in great shape as well. Carpet will need to be replaced or at least cleaned. Still has the original cover for the hatch area as well.
Other than the T56 swap, the drivetrain is mostly stock. I did find out that it has an aluminum driveshaft so I am guessing that it came from a 4th gen. Rear is a posi 3.23 setup but the posi no longer works. The clutch was installed in my 1994 Z28 back when I swapped this t56 into it. Somehow the bolts came loose and wore the clutch kind of weird. I installed it into this car and so far it has grabbed just fine. Also, I am not sure if it is hydraulic related but sometimes when going from 1-2 at part throttle it grinds a touch. I just discovered this yesterday. However, going from 3-2 works just fine and 2nd itself drives fine. I bought the transmission from a reputable person around the KC area and he told me that there was never a problem with it grinding. In fact he said it had been rebuilt around 20k miles before I bought it and had an upgraded 3-4 steel shift fork.
Car has just over 150k miles on it but the engine still has good oil pressure and doesn't leak a drop of Mobil 1 oil (that's all its had since I got the car in late 2002). Does burn a small amount due to bad valve guides but that doesn't effect performance.
PM is the best way to get in touch with me but my email is slowta@gmail.com if you would like to email me instead. Pictures can be taken of pretty much anything you would like to see.

Ok just an update on the pictures. I will have them up on thursday as I will be working on the car then. I have class during the day and thought I would have more time today than I did after it was over. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: 1991 Trans Am L98 T56
The third picture shows the small amount of rust that I know of on the outside of the car. This was very light surface rust that will be very easy to sand through I think (I'm not a body man tho). Under the car the only spots that I know of are right around the back side of the front subframe. Right on the rails that run down both sides of the transmission. I was going to clean the underbody up real good, hit those spots with a welder (they are VERY small) and then coat it all with Por15.
The car runs and drives again thanks to a new ignition tumbler and bypassing the VATS. I just finished that up yesterday and took it out for a short drive around the block (no plates on the car yet). I did however find the original keys and do have the original tumbler so it could be put back to original if you would so desire.
I didn't mention in the first post but the car comes with many extras as well. I have the original 700r4 (needs rebuilt but works fine), as well as all the original auto parts minus the tranny cooler lines. For an extra amount I can include a 3" Bassani catback with cutout. I also just got an ls1 brake master cylinder today that I am hoping to get put in the car when I put new rotors and pads on it here soon. Car will also come with a triple gauge A pillar pod and a couple gauges. Car will come with original front seats (no longer have the rears). Also will come with a Lingenfelter 219/219 .560/.560 112LSA cam as well.
The car can be made into a VERY nice car with not much work. But, make no mistake it still is a project car on some level. It also does not have emissions equipment on it anymore nor would it pass emissions with the headers that are on it so please keep that in mind.
I have MANY more pictures taken now as well as a couple crappy videos of the car running that can be sent out via email. If you would like that stuff drop me an email and I will get it sent out to ya.

Re: 1991 Trans Am L98 T56
I forgot to mention that there is some rust under the batter. This really didn't worry me because I was going to be pulling out the SLP cold air setup and going with an lt1 cold air intake instead which would require me to cut out that area. Then I was going to mount the battery on the passenger side using a 4th gen overflow tank. Finally I would remove the stock overflow tank, the cruise and the windshield washer tank (both of which do not work, and I've never owned a 3rd gen that did). This would take care of the small rust issue and really clean up the engine bay as well.
I know this seems like quite a few issues but I think they are rather small and easy to fix. Plus, I want to be as upfront as possible about every thing I know of that's wrong with the car.

What kind of time frame are you looking into? Thus far there really hasn't been any interest. Maybe we can work something out.

Going to bump this really old thread as the car is for sale again. This time it needs a new home as I have a new car needing its spot this winter. I have gotten rid of a few parts so the new price is adjusted accordingly. Cash talks though so toss out some offers.
