1/8, 1/16, 1/25 scale Camaro models
For those of you into replica models. Pictured are the three available scale plastic models that I built as replicas of my 87 Iroc-z
The largest one is a 1/8 Monogram originally issued in 85.
The medium one is a 1/16 Revell originally issued in 87.
The smallest is a 1/25 MPC originally issued in 85.
The 1/16 scale is the nicest, the doors and hatch open, and it has the correct color decals for grey interior.

Very nice! I have the 1/16 of my 87 IROC-Z too. I never want to build a model again. I also have a little cast model of it from the Camaro Collection. How did you get the other car's stripes and stickers to match correctly?
They really need to come out with more cast Third Gens, especially IROC-Z's. There probably will be in a few years hopefully.

The 1/8 scale is a different story, the decals are red to match the red interior of the kit. I took the decals from a 1/16th scale kit, enlarged them to the same size as the 1/8th scale, and had them printed onto stick on paper. I cut out each letter and stuck them on the model. It looks good from a distance, but up close they aren't so great. the striping is Pactra stick on stripes that I got at my local hobby store.
I'm still looking to make silver decals out of the red ones. My sister says she can change the color of them for me. The problem is finding a print shop willing to print decal sheets, the sheets tend to stick to their rollers in the printer.

There are quite a few places to check.
Go to the book store, and get a copy of a model magazine. Inside, are hobby stores that sell old models. For big $$$!
Also, check around in the big cities. They have model shows, where people get rid of their old stuff. Usually get some good deals with these.
And, of coarse, there is always ebay, which sometimes you can get a good deal.
Hope this helps,
George

I wish my car was as easy to work on as those models. I also wish my car looked as good also. Seen any berlinetta models?

That would be cool. I will keep my eyes out for one. I just bought 4 new berlinetta center caps for $55.00.

I don't recall how much the Berlinetta went for. But it was somewhere between 75 and 100 dollars. I did bid on it, but bowed out after 50.

Stuart S those look real!!!
I want to make my 1/8th scale Iroc... it's even the same colors as my real car... but I suck at models.
What would you charge to make it? lol But seriously. I want to pay someone to make it!

Does Monogram still sell the Iroc-z model or any 3rd gen f body models? If I cant afford a full size one maybe a smaller scale Iroc will do.
