I think I see two problems (that is if you don't count the seller rambling on like an idiot thinking his car is pure gold). the first is the dash reminds me of a berlinetta, the second is why is his speedo reading Kph, shouldn't it be Mph?

Seeing that the owner calls himself a 'charcter' - someone should e-mail him and point out the oil pressure gauge - See what he sais...

I think the oil pressure thing is only because the light at this place is burnt

The only thing I can see is the instruments are Canadian.. You can switch KM and MPH in all cars, BUT the Oil pressure is in Kilopascals (0 to 400) and the Temp is in Degrees C. (0 to 130)

Also, he doesn't have RPO code Z49 on the SPID sticker.. (That's Canadian modifications). also the SPID would be in both english and french if it were a Canadian car.

Looks like the digital guages aren't original and most likely came out of a Canadian car.

well this is just my two cents worth, I dont think steering wheel controls were offered in 88, and the door panels look funny to me too...

I've found '88s in junkyards with the steering wheel controls, so I'd say that's legit, but I think you're close. How about...

In the close-up of the instrument panel, the steering wheel looks like it has the round horn button; and in the full interior pic, it has the wheel with the radio controls.

It's a great looking car though.

yea but guys look at the steering wheels. in the full interior pic it shows a wheel with all the buttons. however in the cluster pic it is clearly a 3 spoke whell. check it out.

He's probably not trying to pull anything, he's probably just taken pictures of the digital dash from GM's promotional literature or elsewhere to illustrate what it looks like. There's nothing necessarily deceptive about it.

No, it means that he's not as good a photographer as the ones GM hires. Try taking a clear, readable picture of a digital dash and tell me how it turns out.

but he took a good readable pic of the dash. im almost positive that the pic of the cluster was taken by the cars owner and the interior pic is a GM one. the pic of the interior just looks to new and too much like what ud see in a brochure.

looks right to me, all the 88-89 gta cars I have seen have had the radio controls on the steering wheel pad. 87 only had the horn button with the emblem and the later models had the airbag

only odd thing is he used a differant picture for the cluster

- just like shooting framed pics - Always aim the lense at an angle to the subject - do not shoot direct - turn flash off - that said - still not an easy task!

I ask the seller why the two diff steering wheels and he said this:

To answer this question about the steering wheel asked by a DOZEN people (good eyes out there!)I used a stock photo for the dash, as, well, they all look the same, I didnt notice the diff steering wheel. I ASSURE you the steering wheel is STOCK with WORKING buttons, and is in fact in awesome shape. If anyone doubts my integrity after reading my ad, notices my down to earth honesty and candor and reads my 300 PERFECT FEEDBACK rating and still feel wierd, then you have to ask yourself if you are wired the right way to buy a car off the internet, where a level of trust and a certain leap-of-faith is required. Dont email me implying that I am trying to get over on you, dont waste, go talk smack and kick tires somewhere else. And really, someone is trying to rip you off, do you think they tell you because you asked? Silly, really. Good luck out there and Happy Ebaying! If you ASK me, Ill give you my number and we can talk as much as you want about this and other cars, I am a car guy!

On aside note, he emailed me twice and both time he use "leap-of-faith". If I'm buying a car for $8-9,000 I don't want to rely on faith to get what I want. That is what pics are for.

I have a 87 GTA with the digital dash. On my car if I have over 60 psi of oil pressure the guage goes blank (off the chart). So I don't think that there is a problem with the guage in the brochure pic.

Dark red car and bright red emblems could be had on 87 models I know for sure. Not a problem if the car's that early.
