Last '92 Trans Am

Here is another of the lasts for Pontiac fans. The last '92 T/A.

1G2FW23F6NL227529 Built Aug 27, 1992

AAA AJ3 AQ9 AU3 A31 A90 BC8 B84 CC1 C49 C60 DC4 DE4 DG7 D42 D7C D8N D81 E5Z FE2 GU2 G80 IL2 JG1 J42 K34 K68 LB9 MD8 MX0 NA5 NN5 NP5 N64 PW7 QLC R9Y T93 T96 UB3 UQ1 UX1 U62 U75 VAN VG8 VK3 V73 WS4 WS6 YA7 YF5 Y84 1SA 52P 6ZX 7ZX 8NM 81Q 81U 82I 822 829 9NM

This car is frightingly similar to the SECOND to the last Camaro. Red, 305 TPI, Auto, T-tops, Gray leather, California emissions, with the exception that this T/A has gold wheels (52P). Also odd that this car has an aluminum driveshaft (JG1).

Nice to know the last 3rdGen T/A was a GTA, but I have to agree with Alex.... I don't really see what is odd about the JG1 propshaft. The majority of GTAs had them installed, regardless of engine choice.

Frankie,
it would only make sence that the last Trans Am was a GTA, considering that dealers were probably not ordering cars for the lot. As we have discussed before, all GTAs appear to be a special order item in 1992, and few if any ever sat on a dealer lot.

Or did I misunderstand?

No, John, you understand correctly. I just thought it was somewhat fitting that a GTA closed out the Third Gen T/A production run.

A dealer about 50 miles from me had a '92 GTA on their lot back in the day, but ended up transferring it to another dealer out of state when they could not sell it. It had a sticker of $26K+.... makes my 1988 sticker of $19,938 seem like a bargain.

But as a rule... no, they were not produced for dealer stock.
