My freshly restored 84 Z28

After quite awhile I finally finished my restoration of my 1984 Z28 L69 HO Camaro. So I broke it in with a trip to the lake. I actually have one part left to put on it; a quick ration steering box, (2.5 turns lock to lock). Other that that I'm just having a ball driving it. I've kept it stock right down to the origional blue exterior and the Z06 delux interior, the "Camaro Camaro Camaro" Lear Siegler seats, etc. At least it's ready for the summer, whenever it gets here...

Looks good. All you need now is the stripe package and it will look new again. That was the color of my first car, 1983 Z28.

That's my absolute favorite car among the early thirdgens. The gray-blue paint, the LS Contour interior, an L69 and hopefully the 5 speed. Absolutely my favorite early setup.

Very nice car!

It took about a year and a half to complete. The person I bought it from had painted it black.

Here are a few more. I'm not sure about going with the decal stripes. I kind of like it without, but I might change my mind. I may have them painted on a bit smaller than the decals. I had the hood scoops painted a flat black along with the bumper stripping instead of the vinyl.

Did you do anything mechanical, or just an appearance restoration?

Rebuilt engine to specs with an upgraded exhaust, Fresh T5 from Street-wise Performance with a Hearst street comp close ratio shifter, Wonderbar, KYB struts and shocks, Sub-frame connectors, tubular pan hard bar, tubular rear trailing arms, IROC "Z" quick ratio steering box (2.5 turns lock to lock) I found a set of dual cooling fans that I installed (Huge improvement) 140 mph speedometer, Goodyear Eagle GT+2 tires and some other minor improvements.

As far as the "Camaro" on the seats, yes they did, on both front and rear but I was only able to salvage the door panel sections. Everything else was trashed and you can't get the blue material anymore. I have seen red, tope, and black/silver by private owners who for some reason bought a bolt of the material way back when, but no blue. I could always have the "Camaro" embroidered on but thats time and money and I think the door panels keep me at least in the spirit of the origional interior.

I actually just run the stock P215/65R15 Goodyears. I had a set of IROC tires and rims on it from an 88 but they looked so damn big. I like to hide my mods as if they would have come from GM had they thought of it at the time. I'm working on a system where all of the interior locks and power window switches are backlit. If I go anywhere with the tires it'll be lower profiles and I'll drop the car and inch or so. I kind of lean towards the Pro Touring group more than the dragstrip. Most of the mechanical mods I'll make from here on out will just really be upgrades to the front suspension, maybe rear disk brakes etc...It's kicking out about 230 +- HP and that suits be fine.

Great looking restoration job on the car. The door panels really set off the interior. The history/restoration board always has great stuff on it.

The "Camaro Camaro Camaro" came on alot of cars, it was the delux interior with the RPO code of Z06. Now Z06 is a suspension/handling package but then it was a delux interior.

Check the history/restoration boards and download some of the literature pertaining to your model. It will all depend on your model, sport coupe, Z28, IROC, Berlinetta etc..
