okfoz, this ones for you 87 Formula Question
I recently stumbled across what I believe to be a 87 Formula, Yellow, hardtop, 350tpi, 700r4, 3.23 gear (unsure if its a 9 or 10 bolt) Grey interior car. Im awaiting pictures of the car. From what I understand the motor is blown, however the car is complete and unmolested. I like weird 80s cars. I've got an 89 IROC ragtop, triple black 5spd tpi car, 87 camaro sport coupe, no options, v8 w/ 5spd, and an 86 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2. Im thinking about adding this one to the stable. Only reason Im even interested in the car is because its yellow, an a hardtop. The guy is looking to get $1000 for it, Im thinking I can get it for much less. Whats your opinion, something to go after?? Any idea of the production numbers on something like this??
Thanks
Chris
Thanks

Re: okfoz, this ones for you 87 Formula Question
From Pontiac:
Formula
2FS 87 2-Door Hardtop Coupe 10,780 (All 305's)
2FS 87 2-Door Hardtop Coupe 2,384 ( L98 )
Total Firebird Formula 13,164
The axel should be the B&W 9 Bolt with the 3.27 gear.
There was one similar to that locally with the Molded door panels (GTA type), Power Antenna, Shade and the Subwoofer option about 10 years ago... It was rough though...
YELLOW was a Formula only color in 1987 & 1988
I would think pretty rare, if the body is straight thats more important to me than the Engine as I find Mechanicals easier than Body... I would not be surprised if they spun a couple of main bearings, its pretty common from what I understand... My guess would be in the low hundreds probably less Total...
Make SURE its a 350... 1G2FS218?H

Re: okfoz, this ones for you 87 Formula Question
Thanks for the info. As far as body work goes, Im not too concerned. I own a restoration shop. Its just when it comes to my own stuff Im not a big fan of rust because I fix it all day long for other people. Paint, interior, trim not a big deal. I've got plenty of mechanical parts for the car including a L98 sitting under the shelf. PIctures will tell the whole story. Like I say I just like wierd odd 80s stuff I dont know why. IT would be cool to pick up as my friend has a 92 Jamacia yellow formula, ttops, 350, all original. Kinda the first yellow formula and the last yellow formula.
Thanks again

I'm pretty sure I know what car this is and it's been for sale for a LONG time. You may be able to get him down on the price but maybe he won't budge and that's why he's still got it. I've talked to him about it months ago and it didn't sound too bad.

Here is My Yellow Formula...
I deleted the lower charcoal stripe (It was standard and not deletable if anyone was wondering in 1987 & 1988) And I have ROH Rims (in the original Charcoal Stripe color...
This is actually an older picture...

Re: okfoz, this ones for you 87 Formula Question
My cuz just bought (out from under me) a dark blue 92 formula 350 with TTOPS and the crosslace wheels.
I wanted it cuz I test drove it back in late 91 brand new.

Re: okfoz, this ones for you 87 Formula Question
Her eis a pic of a 92 Jamacia Yellow Firebird... This one was only a LO3, otherwise I would have probably bought it...
This one is of VIN 200001, AND its a 1LE, owned by PHS or Pontiac
This one is someone else's at the Trans Am nationals, I think he was from Chicago area, NOT a huge fan of the Tan interior with the Yellow Paint, but otherwise a really nice car. What I find mostly interesting is he has "Taken 91" on the car... I never did see if the car was actually a 1991 however. Which should not exist. TTBOMK.
