1982 - 1984 Firebird / Trans Am front bumper cover
I'm trying desperately to locate a place that carries the front bumper cover for my 1984 T/A. there are several sites that list it, but they don't actually have it in stock... and it turns out they're all the same company. They go by names like "The Auto Parts Channel" and "auto parts fair". Does anybody know of any other places I can check with to see if they are actually stocked? the part number I found is 10020286 , but I can't be certain that is accurate. If not new, then are there any good places to look for a good condition used one?

GM discontinued the '82-84 Firebird front bumper cover about five years ago. Aftermarket covers are available but its possible that those are even hard to get now. There are a lot of aftermarket and reproduction suppliers cutting back or going belly up with the way the economy is right now.
Have you checked with the local salvage yards? '82-84 cars still aren't that hard to find.

in my experience, they have been hard to find. i've only run into three or four 82-84 birds over the course of 5 years in local yards... and I've yet to find one without license plate bracket holes in the front bumper cover due to NY state law requiring a front plate. This past year, it was about impossible to find any thirdgens in local yards.

As of last year there was a junk yard here in Roanoke VA that had 2 or 3 of the 82-84 TA in the yard. Not sure if they ship but in might worth a try. 1-540-343-9899 Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5:30pm and Sat 8:30am to 1pm

I haven't seen anything as far as 82-84 goes.
You could always put a Knight Rider replica nose on, or a 86-90 nose on. I know that takes away from the stock look, but it looks better than a banged up old one.

Maybe you could have your current bumper reconditioned. They strip off all the old paint make any necessary repairs and then prime it. Check with any bodyshop, there should be someone in the area that does it.

I would go to www.hawksthirdgenarts.com. He should have an ORIGINAL off of a car.
Personally I had an aftermarket front bumper that I was going to use on my 87 Formula. But it fit like poo. I am going to paint it Yellow, hang it on my basement wall in my special space... IT is all it was good for.

Re: 1982 - 1984 Firebird / Trans Am front bumper cover
Thanks for the info and advice so far guys. I did see some places that do reconditioning, and that might be worth looking into if i can't find one that's in good shape to begin with. I just don't trust that they would make it nice and straight. I'm definitely sticking with the original bumper cover style... I want it to look like a 1984 T/A. Thanks for the heads up on that one junkyard in VA. And okfoz, I didn't see one listed on Hawks website yesterday, but I did send them an email to see if they have any. I pretty much spent 2 or 3 hours last night putting out an All Points Bulletin everywhere I could think of.... but suggestions of more places would be very much appreciated.

I did a nationwide search on car-part.com and it showed a few spread around the country. Only a couple said they were really nice though.

thank you for reminding me of that site! There is actually one listed in one of my local do-it-yourself yards. I'll have to call them to confirm they still have it and go check it out in person. Of course I'll have to dig it out of snow first

There's a 3rd gen parts place in Toronto called "Paradise Alley", but he's kind of pricey:
