Welcome to TGO. Your question is common, so a search, which will generally yield results, is always a good idea. B4Z is the RPO of the IROC package. Check the door placard for 16" wheels.

You could compare your VIN on your sticker with your VIN plate on your windshield..

Were the 16" wheels (N96) available on the Z28, or just on the IROC? My 85 doesn't show the B4Z code, but does show the N96 wheels.

As far as I know, only the IROC received 16" wheels, 85-87. You might check my Car Details below for a pic of the IROC 16".

in 1985 the only colors available on the iroc-z were-silver metallic, black, bright blue metallic, yellow and red. that info is directly out of my original 1985 chevrolet camaro showroom brochure.

Re: Is my car a true iroc??

To expand on what James and Stevo stated, check the RPO sticker (located inside the center console) for B4Z. More importantly, make sure the VIN code (also on the sticker) matches what is on the dash.

Just like the dash emblem and exterior decals, a center console can be swapped as well.

Re: Is my car a true iroc??

poke your head underneath the front end of the car-directly behind the radiator should be a round bar with stamped end flanges welded to it. it bolts on each side to the left and right subframe rail. it was called the "wonderbar" and only irocs had it from the factory. it stiffened the frame somewhat. if it is there does it look like it is original? factory fasteners and wear and tear dirt to go along with the vehicles age? if it lokks original your car was prolly an iroc.

Just for general info, the Wonderbar is a steering box brace. Apparently, IROC's with their 16-inch wheels stressed that area. Wonderbar = GM's Band Aid for a potential problem.

thank you for that clarification. it makes me wonder if anyone reading this post has ever seen a f-body with subframe damage (ripped out steering boxes, bent framerails, etc from too much grip on the road. not collisions. just fatigue and wear and tear. like the old dodge b series van where the steering box would actually rip out its mounting points and spin in the frame as you steered it. (maybe a new thread is required)
