It was kind of secret mission last summer, with Scott's request for a mint Norwood Firebird and a mint Norwood Camaro. What happened? Can we talk about it now. I know that JasonE supplied the Firebird.

Scott did release the details while we were at the event:

Not sure it was the kind of thing that it was hyped up to be though. I was under the impression that it was going to be so much more. If the guys that did participate believe it was a good effort, then that's all that matters. Unfortunately, my son was very sick and I couldn't go.
I was told that the owners of the cars would be in magazines, possible book opportunities, get a chance to represent TGO in a special event setting. Since I wasn't there to know, I'm not sure if anyone recognized TGO as a community.

Yeah, I tend to agree. In the end it just looked like a rained out retiree picnic. It was great that 3rd gens made a showing but that black IROC looked really mint and I would not have taken my car in that weather for what that event really was. Just a retiree picnic.

I drove 1,600 miles to be part of this event, towing my car on a rented UHaul trailer while my beloved Hemi 2500 Ram averaged 8.9 MPG for the trip. It poured the entire ride out, it poured much of the day of the show, and it poured the entire ride home.
In the end, the best part for me was meeting JT and John (okfoz) after talking to them all these years. The show was hyped up far more than it should have been...I do not blame TGO in the least, because all of us were led on equally, I believe. I believe we all did the best we could to represent TGO, as for me that was the entire reason for going anyway.

Re: So what was the deal when Scott needed 2 Norwood cars last summer?
Well, that pretty much answered the question Thanks for the link...
The fact that another one of Phil's promises ("I'll make sure your name and car make it in because you worked so hard to get here and drove so far") fell short does not surprise me. I finished the car 3 days before I had to leave for the show...
I hate to sound bitter...nice to see Mark's IROC get center stage, though He deserves it more than I...we had an unfortunate loading incident in the rain with Mark's car, which ended up with his car sliding off a UHaul trailer ramp and gouging his RH ground effect. Mark, if you're reading this, I hope the nice pic of the IROC at least partially makes up for the ground effect
In all, I think we represented TGO well...

Yhea, gotta say it's nice to see my car front and center.unfortunately they didn't use as many of the pictures I sent to Phil as I would have like to have seen.

Jason, bear with me. I still have some plans I'm working on that might be beneficial.

Jason, You misunderstood my wording. I say that with a smile on my face. Just bear with me for about a month or so and we'll see what I can come up with. Hopefully that will be better hype that comes to fruition.

I have grinned and watched this thread for some time now. To clear the record and I have the E-mails to support.... the 2011 event was an "experiment" and I was really clear and upfront about this fact.
I also told the TGO group that MCR would cover the event and they did.
Both TGO cars attending were featured in MCR in the issue that followed.
TGO has been invited to all events since.
Sorry you guys had a bad time in 2011. With the event venue change to the Norwood Plant garage for the 2012 event the weather that affected the 2011 event became a non issue.
