VIN uh oh!
SO, somehow (in my supreme stupidity) I never realized it but my VIN behind dash and VIN on my title are not matching! I mean, it's not even a 2 vs Z or 6 vs L sort of office typing error! It's just flat out different. Not tremendously, obviously, but still.
The car itself is totally hacked up but I know it's always just been due to poor maintenance and ignorance, not anything illegal. I am paranoid now and would like to know EVERY LOCATION showing the VIN number that is located on the vehicle from the factory... stickers, stamped, etc. ... EVERYTHING!
Chime in with all of the locations you know of please!

Re: VIN uh oh!
Its true, I know my rear bumper has a sticker that has the vin sorta still readable. None where on the fenders but I recall my old 92 Camaro having on the driver. Doors have em on the stickers. Look for a RPO sticker if its still there.

Yes. VIN stickers on inside rr fender near spare tire, under rear bumper on steel body, hatch, doors, front fenders and hood. And of course on the SPID sticker in the glove box.

Re: VIN uh oh!
I am assuming that the only vital one that anyone ever checks is behind the dash then?

Re: VIN uh oh!
I found a vin sticker on the GTA, under the rear bumper on the frame while looking at the exhaust. Just a sticker, surprised it has survived.

Years ago when I was washing the car, a paper sticker (with the spoiler P/N and VIN) floated out from under the middle section of the spoiler.

The engine block has the last few numbers of the vin on it. There's a little pad that stick out on the front of block, passenger side head. Good luck reading it though.

Re: VIN uh oh!
Synful,
What year is your car? The panel stickers were only used from 1987 - mid 1992, maybe only thru 1991...
You should still have a VIN on the drivers door IIRC.
I had this happen on a car, they had the wrong VIN on the title, it was close but 2 or 3 numbers were wrong. They just charged me $15 and reissued a Title.
You have to say which numbers are wrong...

No, not true, at least fully. GM phased these stickers out at some point in 1990 I think. My 1991 and every 1991-92 f-body I've paid attention to since doesn't have them. I'm not sure that early Third Gens have them either. I think 1985 was the start? Can someone clarify?

I'm sure they realized the chop shops could easily peel off the stickers when they stripped a car. Fruitless effort really - why bother.

Re: VIN uh oh!
Might come in handy in the future. A dozen matching factory VIN stickers would convince a buyer that the car has never been cracked up.
