Richard Dean Anderson drove Players cars back in the day... It could actually be one of his cars...
What killed me was one the shots of the Dash was a Camaro, not a Firebird, And the pic of under the hood looked like a typical TPI

It could have retained the stock tpi but with internal plastic parts making the engine lighter. Plus the sound effects seemed legit, could of used modified tpi motors in the cars. I read plastic engines were under going experimental testing in the 80s. Now rather it was just scripted for the episode i don't know, but i know plastic engines were around by that time.

Nothing to do with macgyver but it's an GM players race i found on youtube 1986 david white's race car in car for nearly 17 minutes. I think the car needed new brakes after this lol
