The pics kind of suck but if this car and the story behind it are legit, it's pretty neat. Supposedly stolen from a dealership back in the day, and recovered missing a few panels, hence the random replacements. You can see the outline of the original window sticker in the passenger window too. I really hope to see this car bought by someone on here and brought back to life.

Re: 97 Mile Formula
interesting car, but i'd like to see more proof of the story behind it.
the car is going to need A LOT of work to be brought back to new condition. also all NOS parts would need to be used to do the car justice and that's not cheap.
obviously there's a big difference in a car that sat in climate controlled garage for 30 years and accumulated 97 miles and this one. i don't think the value is there. it's not like this is some rare example with big money potential. just my opinion though.

I'm 100% with you on that. I'm not referring to the value aspect though, IMO that's no more than a $2500 car IF it's not rotten underneath. I'm more interested in seeing a car with supposedly such a cool story come back to life and get the enjoyment it's missed out on for the last 30 years

Re: 97 Mile Formula
so are you implying that since " THE WINNER OF THE AUCTION PURCHASED ALL NEW GTA TRANS AM PARTS AND PUT THEM ON THE CAR" that he can list it as a "1987 Formula Firebird Gta Trans Am" ?

You've never head of tags for searches? It clearly says after that that it is 87 Firebird Formula and explains why the GTA parts on it. Reading, FOR THE WIN!

Re: 97 Mile Formula
thank you scooter, I have to mark this arguement up as a loss to your ignorance as I am no longer interested in argueing that the car is listed as a firebird AND a trans am AND a formula AND a GTA. If you cant see the issue there than that's your problem.

Re: 97 Mile Formula
I'd actually love to buy it, buy nos parts for it, get it to run good, and then just haul it around on a trailer to car shows. Not paint it, anything. It'd be a killer conversation piece! It's really not worth crap, 97 miles or not.

Re: 97 Mile Formula
It CLEARLY states after that initial verbiage
THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE 1987 FORMULA FIREBIRD WITH 97 ORIGINAL MILES!!
Whoa! It's quite clear, and seeing as he/she states it is an auction, they must have wanted to post other terms to try to get peoples attention, and/or search hits.
Then they go on to explain the other discrepancies;
HERES THE SCOOP...THE CAR WAS PURCHASED OUT OF SACRAMENTO CA FROM AN INDIVIDUAL WHO PURCHASED AT AN AUCTION WITH TITLE IN HAND. IT WAS STOLEN OFF THE GM LOT IN 87 AND RECOVERED LACKING HOOD, FRONT NOSE, REAR HATCH, RIMS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. THE WINNER OF THE AUCTION PURCHASED ALL NEW GTA TRANS AM PARTS AND PUT THEM ON THE CAR
So you either live under a rock and have never looked at ebay, craigslist, other auction sites etc., or you are simply an idiot without reading comprehension skills because I am not "ignorant" as you incorrectly stated. It's not rocket surgery to figure out why that additional stuff is there. Generally people put it at the end, but not everyone is able to write a cogent advertisement for selling a vehicle.

Re: 97 Mile Formula
Fellas the title may as well say IROC-Z, but the description states that it's a Firebird covered in Trans Am parts, and the reasons why. The guy probably just made the title to include tags, or the fact that it is now a GTA/Formula hybrid. Not a big issue, nor a misrepresentation. Please move on.
As for the car, I agree with dagwood. It would be sweet to get it healthy but leave everything else as it looks, then haul it around to shows and just chat about it. Make a little plaque that explains the history. It isn't worth anything more than a typical project Formy with what I'm assuming to be a clean shell. My point is that it's sweet to see a car this old that never even got plated for the road, but still ended up with a cool history and ridiculously low mileage. It is also a well optioned 350 Formula, which is immediately more interested than a base Firebird or Iron Duke Camaro

Sounds like he wants a lot for it "very very very rare find". That's going to be a hard sell in that condition.

Re: 97 Mile Formula
Assuming since its a formula with transam wheels it doesn't have the factory tires etc, personally I couldn't bring myself to fix it to keep its history, it would either have to be a full restoration or parts car for me ... would make a good RoadKill car. There was a car in one of the local junkyards I use to pull parts off of in the late 90's that was the same color scheme as my car but a 89 formula 350 hard top (unfortunately the engine had been picked apart by the time i found it... otherwise ). It had been stolen and wrecked pretty hard in the front right in the very early 90's in the perusing chase it had something like 300 miles on it
Any Youtubers (lsxmatt, goonzquad etc ) out there -- this would make for good content bringing a extremely low mileage but neglected car back to its show room condition. That away you are not concerned with it as an investment (you could never make money on it on its value along) but you would pay for its restoration through youtube revenue... but it would need to be someone with established viewers and that could do it quickly... I'd throw in a few bucks to their pateron if someone did it.

Re: 97 Mile Formula
1) The front seats are wrong, or the Door panels are wrong, pick one. Those seats did not come with those door panels.
2) The engine bay looks kinda dirty for a 100 mile car...
3) The fact that EVERY part of the car would have to be redone, or reconditioned tells me that this car, regardless of miles, is not worth anything more than $5000 in my book, it would cost $20,000 to bring it to 100 mile status, AND THEN you would have a car worth $15,000 at the most on the good day with the wind blowing right.
4) I have seen this car before, it was a few years ago IIRC... Not worth my time or effort IMHO...
I might give $2000 for it tops... Even that I would have to scratch my head and ask myself if I really wanted it THAT bad.
