goodbye to the old camaro norwood plant
Well, 15 years ago they closed the plant, but now they are tearing down what is left to make an office complex. GM is selling it to an investor. That is sad, I remember when I was very young my dad would take me there to see the camaros in the lot after they were built. He also told me that he used to go there when he was younger and when he ordered his camaros in the 70s he went on tours to see them built. It was cool to see a big part of the camaro history on my way to school and work, and it will be sad to see it go.

before this gets locked...sniff sniff, hey my car was made there I agree it is sad.
As far as this being part of the history section I can justify it since Norwood produced our cars from 82-87, and since the factory is being torn down, a part of our history is being demolished.

It's a huge parking lot right now. I wish they would have made them a little longer so i could have taken my baby to its birthplace, it has been there, but it is the birthplace of its brothers and sisters

It may be gone, but its legacy will live on for centuries. 67 Z28s, Yenko Camaros, COPO Camaros, 69 TransAm Convertibles, SS396, SD455, the Bandit TA, IROC-Zs, and much much more. So don't mourn for its loss, instead celebrate its contribution to automotive history.

I agree with Blue502
I agree withBlue 502; true, Norwood probably manufactured most of the Camars in existence, but it's people like us that carry on the legacy every day. My mom has her 1968 Sport Coupe and that beast was built at Norwood. It could be possible that my Camaro was also built there. I'll check tomorrow. But anyway, if it is, then it's just another big part of automotive history. And while the plant may be gone, the lttle tag that says NORWOOD in ourcars won't be.

I just took my rear bumper cover off and went to throw out it out when I saw a green norwood circle on the back of the cover. Needless to say thats going in the restoration book!:lala:
