how to put my camaro on a diet

So, i have a 92 camaro, original 3.1L, that is in the process of getting a v8. My question is,with the added weight of the 350 where can i shed a few pounds on the car. I have and intend to keep power windows, power locks, power hatch, cruise, stereo the whole nine(except for power seat)
i am more than likely going to rid myself of the A/c brackets aren't the same and it needs a recharge(is that a good idea??) and really don't know where else to start. Any help is appreciated

You're like me. You want to keep creature comforts and still have a fast car. The difference between power windows and manual windows, is only a pound or 3. Same goes for the power lock system, and power hatch. Cruise is not much either. 20 pounds for everything you listed. The A/C is a heavyweight accessory. If you did a full conversion to 2-60AC (two windows down, going 60mph), you've got 40-50lbs there. Since it's post 90, rid yourself of the SIRS. Thats a couple pounds there. Go for aluminum drive shaft, lightweight wheels, and beef that motor up. Instead of making the car lighter, make the engine more powerful hahaha.

I know how that goes man. I run two part time jobs right now to pay for the resto I'm performing as well as school. I'm on more of a time crunch than a money crunch. Save your cash, just have fun with the car while in school, when you graduate then do what you want. Re: how to put my camaro on a diet

With the added 200HP or so (or more) of the 350 over your 3.1 you won't notice any difference with the weight of the 350 motor. Honestly...I really wouldn't worry about it. I'd upgrade the suspension (Including Torque arm, wonderbar, front/Rear sway bars and new springs with poly bushings all around) and that will do wonders for how the car feels and handles and go from there. If your still worried about the weight...then start pulling stuff but me personally? I love all my power options and other gadgets and would be lost without them.

Re: how to put my camaro on a diet

this is what I would do,
rid of the inner bumper supports front and rear, spare tire and jack, power hatch release, manual windows, back seat, on the inner fender supports I woulduse a 2" hole saw and cut 3 holes on both sides, I also heard that the inner door impact beams that run across can be removed, rid of rear body panels, keep door panels and dash, rid of both sway bars, a/c delete, heater core delete, fiberglass hood, skinnies up front, get a fuel cell and rid of fuel tank.
But if you like your comforts then leave her alone, as for mineI only removed the inner bumper supports and back seats since they dont get used any way.
