Hatch pulldown unit is loose

I think it finally came off of the tracks. I had trouble getting the hatch to secure, and noticed that i can grab the assembly and wiggle it around significantly. The unit still moves up and down, but the whole assembly is loose and I had a really tough time getting it lined up just so, so it would grab my hatch and pull it down.

This is on a 1989 TTA, by the way.

The nylon sliders are probably worn out. If you look where the motor rides in the tracks, you will see nylon bushings. If that turns out to be the problem, you can get new ones from top down solutions:

Okay, I wasn't sure if it was the tracks or not - good thing they offer a warranty...

It may have broken the motor housing also. I just fixed mine and it was two problems, the slider busings and the motor housing. Top down has a kit that has everything you need to fix it right, $72.50 1986-91 Camaro or Firebird hatch pull-down repair kit TDS 204040 .
