Plastic Interior Paint?

Can the hard plastic interior parts such as the bottom door trim and pieces in the back be painted or do they have to be replaced?

Thanks,

Re: Plastic Interior Paint?

I did all of my russet panels with SEM Landau Black. They look good, but certain areas that rub a lot will not hold up regardless to the prep work put into it.

Re: Plastic Interior Paint?

SEM Is amazing, I do have a question for you SEM users thou..
My interior is the tan color and so is my plastic.
I used the SEM on my arm rest and rear hatch plastic, looks great!
I was thinking about doing all black sem on all interior plastic, what do you think?
Does anyone have all black with tan seats? If you do could you post a picture?
Thank you

My interior is tan.. I didnt know how you guys that are "restoring" or "replacing" yours are doing it. I can see where the paint would rub off. Problem now is most of the Z's that are in the junk yards are already scrapped!

Re: Plastic Interior Paint?

Yeah, I dyed the entire interior in My Firehawk about 5 years ago. I went with PPG from the local paint shop because I wanted it mixed to match the stock color perfectly. I am also doing the same with the `86 Trans am I am doing now. I used Bulldog Adhesion promoter just before spraying the color on the panels. It has held up over the years, and it is impossible to scratch off (one of the things I was afraid of). I`m not sure how a color change would work out though.

Re: Plastic Interior Paint?

I recently have painted my interior with some autozone interior spray paint. I used a few layers of adhesion promoter and then 2-3 layers of the black paint. It doesn't match the stock interior because it is a bit more shiny, but if you're redoing all of it that doesn't matter. As far as how long it will last I don't have a clue. My car hasn't touched the road since the new interior paint. Your best bet would be going to the local scrap yard and buying interior pieces that are in good shape.
