Nice looking car there Steven. Welcome to the club.
I had that same cam brand new in a box for a year and a half and never installed it. I think I was too scared to do the cam swap myself. Instead I sold it on LS1tech to a guy who got 60hp out of it. I kick myself in the *** everyday.
Happy burnouts to ya.

The cam swap was easy since I did it with the motor out. If I had seen it earlier, I would have got the 2 peice timing chain cover that I saw in the back of a chevy mag, makes it so you can do a cam swap without pulling the front balancer, which was a PITA.

cam swaps are insanely easy on LS1s... easiest motor ive ever worked on. and with the rubber/shim gaskets, they dont leak either... go buy yourself another cam, some 918s, and some hardened pushrods...

Yeah I read and heard that it was super easy to do, but just never did it. Then the time came where I was jobless for a few weeks and needed some cash so... It was an entire cam kit also, 918 springs, pushrods, cam and gaskets. Let it go for $500. I'm currently looking for another one though. I still need something better than a 2.73 gear also, looking into that too.

Little update, I started it up and tried to put it into gear, grind grind. So I put it in reverse and started it up, it started, and then started to roll back with the clutch fully in, so I hit the brake to stop it, clutch still in, and the car stopped and so did the motor.
So the clutch isn't disengaging all the way. Its not 100 locked up or the car would have started rolling as soon as I hit the starter.....

I just heard my car start for the first time today through open long tubes , and steven they have modified my spohn crossmember to clear the exhaust and i will try to get pics up sometime in the next few weeks. I would like to thank xtremeirocz and ARD(Advanced Racing Dynamics) for the hard work and long hours they have put into my swap

Yeah definitly post some pics, I'd like to see what they did.
You know, I got the K-member, and now Spohn makes them. I got the X-member and now they have changed them....
....Seems I did my swap a year early, cause I'm getting the short end of the stick on all these parts, K-member fit sucks, and now a better X-member
I guess it will all be ok once I get to drive my car again.

Just to make sure there is no confusion, the shop(ARD) working on my car modified spohns crosssmember not spohn.

About your clutch issue... you probably used a 98-02 pedal assembly thinking it would work as bolted in, I know I did. But it isnt so... I had to move the point where the master cylinder attatches to the pedal down just a little bit so that it would fully compress the master cylinder. I grinded the back of the pressed in peice, pressed it out and then welded it back on. Made me wonder why I bought the ls1 pedal assembly. Oh btw yeah perma-grin is a good way to put it here is a pic from my cell phone camera hope this helps.

I just fixxed that problem by moving my master cylinder up to remove the play from the pedal....hehe
I actually drove the car out of the garage under its own power today and washed it, it was exciting to say the least. And I hooked up the laptop so I could see the tach and gave it a little pedal, I'm gonna need some good mufflers to tame this monster sound!

Sweet, glad to hear one up and running!! Can't wait form mine to fire up, seems like its going to be forever though. The wiring is what scares me the most at this piont.
Anybody know if thirdgen pedals will work?? My car was an L98/700R4, so I have gotten a clutch/brake pedal set and I think the slave cyl was on there too. It's been a while since I actually looked at it, hmm.. I'll have to compare it to what's on the T56. Gonna have to cut a hole for the shifter too, for some reason I thought there was one there already, but there isn't. Looks like a bracket and some of the tunnel will have to go bye-bye. More weight redux!!

only thing i had to do with my pedals, is modify where the master attaches to the clutch pedel, jus took the master and clutch pedal to a machine shop and they made it work for like 20 bucks.

i think the hawks longtubes are a good piece, but the spohn lsx crossmember doesnt work for crap with it. I used the street performance mid lengths on my swap instead of the hawks and after seeing the issues with fuel, exhaust and o2's that red92rs is having i am glad i went with the ones i chose

a little update: I moved the car under its own power for the first time in a looong time, backed it out of the garage and gave it a quick spray down to get the majority of the dust off, then drove it back in. Still need to do the interior, but the list of 'to-do's is definitly getting shorter

Yeah, last thing I had to trim were the mounts for my STB. Its the Edelbrock 3 point, and when I put my ASCD SS Hood back on, the darn thing wouldnt close, so after looking at it, I found the center bar thats above the intake was too high, so I had to drill lower holes so the entire thing would sit lower. It didnt take that long, but its time I would have rather spent on finishing up the wiring and starting the interior work.

If so, PM me your IP address and I'll take care of it, most likely someone with your IP before you got it did something to make my site block the IP, this happens alot with bad search engines and spam gathering bots.
edit: I just found one IP banned in the last couple of weeks so I'll assume its yours. I've added the IP to the protected area so you should be able to see anything on ATGO without a problem, if not send me a PM with your IP. Seems you were blocked after seeing my signature here...weird

No ;-)
LS1 swaps are a lot of work, I dont know if I want to do it all again, lol.
That said, if you do the swap, take your time, do your research, and BAG AND LABEL YOUR BOLTS/NUTs/SCREWs. Thats whats killing me the most.

Yeah I know it is a lot of work. It is just TOOO much work for me to try to do on my own. I don't know anybody here who has done it and that is willing to help. So I will just suck it up and pay the money to have it done at the shop. Thanks anyway!!

GREAT call on the moving of the master cyl up.... its SOOOO obvious now, but ive driven my car for over a year without thinking about it. works better.
on a side note, i did notice a hairline stress crack forming between one of the bolt holes and the center hole... its flexing.. im probly going to have to pull the whole pedal and booster assembly out and re-enforce the area... might as well re-enforce the booster area too, since that firewall area flexs from the factory...

How bad is the stress crack? you might be able to use a large washer to even out the pressure. I have a freind BigBabyLou that had that happen, but worse, the Master pushed right through the firewall when he pushed the clutch in one day going home from a cruise. I'm not sure how he fixxed it, but if you want I can ask him.
Right now I just need to get the interior in it, button up a few things and check the front end alignment/bump steer (long story) and it'll be ready for a little cruise down the street....I'm sure there will be video of that too

Those are really the only pics I have of the headers, and obviously I dont have the full exhaust yet, so I cant really provide much help past that.

If your going to run long tubes, you might want to consider the other setup that has recently become available. Its a trans x-member with humps in it that allow you to run true duel exhaust right next to the trans instead of having to go around the huge a$$ Spohn mount like I'm gonna have to do. Then you would need to get a seperate torque arm that mounts to the tail of the tranny of the floorboard. The spohn setup is pretty nice, but damn it kills ground clearance.
