Motor mount and trans mount questions, 88 camaro... 96 LT1

Hey guys, Im about to begin my LT1 swap into my 1988 v6 camaro.
Right now my biggest concern is with the mounting.

I have a complete lt1 with the 4l60e from a 96 impala ss still attached.

Will the motor mounts that are on this LT1 now bolt into my 88 camaro?
Same question for the transmission...

If not what do I buy mounts for? an 88 350 camaro and trans?

Thanks

From what I understand, the LT1 mounts won't work in a 3rd gen, but 3rd gen V8 mounts will work on an LT1. Most likely you won't find the parts you need at a parts store. JY or some other used source will be more likely to fulfill the need.

The transmission mount will be fine. You will need an f-body tailshaft housing to mount the torque arm, or come up with other means to mount the torque arm other than on the transmission.

SBC mounts should have L and R stamped on them. Atleast mine did and my friend's 79

LT1 (Fbody and Bbody) mounts are slightly different than SBCs and will not work. Use SBC mounts

You can use the tailhousing off your 700R4 for the LT1 style 4L60E. Be sure to transfer the VSS gears and retainer clip from the 700R4 to the 4L60E to get your speedo working. Use an inline cable to electric adapter to satisfy the PCM and prevent stalling

Neither of my 3rd gen SBC ('82 & '86) engine mounts were marked L or R.

This might not be possible unless you want to somehow swap out the shaft that the VSS gears are on. If I remember right there is a notch or something for a pin for the 700R4 vss gears on the 700R4 output shaft.

I've done it the other way, heat up a 4L60E reluctor gear and pound it on the output shaft.

I think there is a better alternative. Install stock electric gauges for a camaro, I think from a 91-92. I don't know if the mechanical to electric 700R4 vss converter can output the 4L60E signal that the PCM requires for the 4L60E to shift correctly either.

Ive only disassembled one 4L60E and it had the groove for it as well

Maybe my parts down here are just wierd

Swapping the older VSS over to the 4L60E was an attempt to save him a few bones with the inline VSS compared to a cable driver box for his speedo

ok so i am wondering what motor mounts you ended up using i am doing the same drive train in my 89 formula firebird and when i set it down one mount is off 1/4 of a inch! i am trying the v8 mounts for the 89 firebird, the caprice i got the motor from uses the same mounts.

May have to try to loosen the mounts on the K-member first, let the motor down some and throw in the long bolts, and then tighten down the mounts.
