One of very few 3rd gens in Scotland, UK

Hi everyone
In Scotland, like everywhere in Europe american cars are pretty rare and exotic. They attract much more attention than some Ferraris or Lambos, so owning one it a brilliant way of having a supercar on the budget.
What I've got is a 1991 Chevy Camaro Z-28 305, all stock. I bought it about a year ago and since then nothing went wrong. At the moment its in the storage and is gonna be back on the road in early spring.

I will post some pictures once I'll find out how to do it

For now you can see it on YouTube:

Cool.

Your interior looks real nice... the car screams low mileage to me.

What are the things hanging under the rear bumper?

Re: One of very few 3rd gens in Scotland, UK

Thats a clean camaro

That now makes 2 of us that have a camaro in the UK!

Those things hanging from the rear bumper are fog lights. For the uninitiated these are bright red lights that must be at the rear of the car by law and to be used in fog or low visibilty conditions. To prevent rear end collisions in our strange weather conditions.

Look after it well.
What do your neighbours/friends think about the car?

Andy.

Hi Mike.
We live in derbyshire-chesterfield to be more exact (J29 of the M1).

Have you restored the car? It looks so clean. Do you know the cars history?

Heres our little baby

Andy.

Re: One of very few 3rd gens in Scotland, UK

I've got all MOT's and bills for it since it was imported to UK in 1996. I also have a letters of the previous owner to Chevrolet USA enquiring about the cars history + all their answers. So I know where and when the car was made and sold. What factory spec and options it had when it left a showroom.
I haven't done anything to it as yet except of new tyres, oil, filters etc. But I already bought new wheels (the same as old ones because they were scuffed and covered in grid and salt), all new weatherstrippin, spark plugs + wires, serpentine belt, new floor mats and many other small things to do a proper tune up over the winter.

I really like your car Andy. I love the paint... personally I wouldn't go for flames but the quality of this paintwork is amazing. I'm trying to keep it in the original state (except wheels) as much as I can. Maybe next winter I will change cylinder heads and camshaft to make it a bit more nippy but I will still think about it...

Take care

Re: One of very few 3rd gens in Scotland, UK

Here in Europe there's no competition between Mustangs and Camaros because very few people have them. So no one knows that the badge doesn't belong on the camaro. Anyway if I would put "305ci" badge on the car, no one would know what it means 'cause we mark engine capacity in litres.
The badge will probably come off anyway when it will be repainted this winter...
I'm gonna stay with IROC wheels...

To Manovox:
Yes I know where Malta is, I've even been there on holiday once... nice place. And you've got yourself a nice car man.

Re: One of very few 3rd gens in Scotland, UK

There's at least one less of them in Schotland since I bought one there earlier this year.

What are you doing with your old wheels? I'm looking for a pair to powdercoat and mill the face off so it looks like stock.

Oh and take off the badge..most people who know what kind of car it is will know that's a stang badge.

I've never met anyone in UK who knew that those badges are from Mustang, and even if... I'm not that bothered as long as in looks nice.
As for the wheels, I never though what I'm gonna do with the old ones. They are chromed IROC's 18''. I will be driving the car to Amsterdam in April next year so I could drop them off if you wish.

that would work for me, I' m on the eastern side of Holland close to the German border but I could drive over to Amsterdam or wherever you are, grab a brewsky and pick up the wheels
