Been searching the boards forever and I've seen a lot of great paint jobs on the birds and I'd like to get them all under one roof, so to speak.
Been thinking of all the colors that would look good on my '86 and just can't really decide. I've never been a big fan of orange on a car, but burnt orange looks appealing. Black would be my first choice... but every other Trans Am I see is black. Red just doesn't appeal to me as much on a Trans Am as it does on a Camaro...
Mine is silver at the moment. If I paint it another silver, it's going to be Chrystler Platinum, but I'm thinking of steering away from silver and going with a more flashy color.
So post up your best paint jobs or the best lookin ones you've seen.
oh true, sounds a lot nicer of a color then lol and ok...let me see if i can find a pic of my car cuz my sig apparently isnt working lol
(please dont mind the car...in these pics its dirty lol...its a bit darker andnot as cloudy of a color...unforutunatley you cant see the metal flake either, and also since these pics i put on a new front bumper (as you can see this one is 'sagging a bit) and i also was forced to put on GTA emblems cuz of the used bumper i found (it was the only used factory bumper around, had to drive almost an hour for it) and it was a used GTA bumper)
Here is my 86'. I want to paint the Ground Effects Silver this Spring tho. I also have put on a 2 1/2 Cowl Hood, and plan on putting on a factory Notchback Hatch too.
I was going to go back the stock color black but after seeing the chevell in F&F 4 I think thats what I'm aiming for...minus the stripes.
Here my 98 color is amazing but the body is more round and works with the flip of it. Our boxes...not so much

im a fan of black. its a lot of work to keep clean but damn if it dont look good. my second choice would be corsair blue. bright yellows and reds are hard to get the shades right for all light. red varients tend to look good. white i dont care for tht much same with greens.
you mentioned Chrysler Bright Platinum Metallic so I had to post mine... although I secretly hope you don't choose it to make mine more unique! hehe.

I would also change the tail lights to the GTA lights
Disagree, keep the tails as they are. Has anyone tried to shine those up before? I know it's hard to because of the grooves, but they would look much with your paint if they were not dull.
At some point I'll polish up my taillights. I'm sure it'll be a pain with the grooves, but it'll be worth it. And the exhaust system from the cat back is pieced together and I'd love to replace it. I want dual rectangular exhaust tips. Here are some more recent pictures:

FINALLY!!! I always wanted to see what these year one snowflakes looked like on a third gen,and it looks incredible,I may be selling my wheels now! Lol. Very beautiful jeremy.
DAVECS1, I love the deep dish on your wheels and the paint looks killer!
Josh, I'm really happy with how the snowflakes look on my car. I was debating refinishing my set of crosslace wheels or going with C6 Z06 wheels too, but I'm happy with my choice. I know of one other thirdgen that has the gold colored snowflakes on it and they look great too.
jcon, the spoiler is from wingswest. It's a reproduction of the Firebird 500 spoiler which was a limited run for one dealership in '83 and '84 I believe.

Jeremy your paint looks excellent also. In my opinion these are some of the hardest cars to paint. It does not seam like GM cared too much about tolerance and fit and finish. I worked hours trying to line up gaps and smooth out plastic or whatever that stuff is, and it after 7 years I still find stuff that could be lined up better only to realize it will throw something else off.
That spoiler is very trick I did not notice until it was mentioned. I love mods like that. Also looks like you may have some trick gauges in there.
