My 1983 Trans Am "Daytona" pace car
Here's my new car, a 1983 Pontiac Trans Am "Daytona" pace car. It has 123,xxx miles on it and I bought it off of my dad. The engine is an LG4 305 and the transmission is a T-5 manual. It's adequate...better than I thought it would be at 150 horsepower! It is in great condition with ZERO rust. He put on a set of restored '87 Monte Carlo SS wheels in place of the white bowling ball wheels/hubcaps (I still have them, thank God!). He also bought a dash pad cover and hatch struts, which I still have to install them. I, myself, have bought a Jeg's white shift **** and an Edelbrock SDT muffler on sale from Summit. I made my own shift boot as well (I work at an upholstery shop). I plan on doing a lot of things to this car, such as painting the car all white (don't care for the dark grey bottom) and redo the entire interior in black with white accents. Eventually I'll swap in a 350 or something along those lines and build it up so it's got some better power. Anyways, here's some pictures of it:
And here's the new shift **** I bought from Jeg's.
I think the **** looks really good in there, but it makes the interior need more white, so I'm going to look into the white gauge overlays that Hawks sells on their website. I also made the shift boot black with white stitching.
Here's what I bought for the exhaust so far:
Edelbrock SDT muffler
Exhaust tips
I got these exhaust tips from eBay and they look great! Anyways, enjoy the pictures and the project. I'll be updating this as I progress. Any comments or questions, please feel free. Thanks for looking!

Also I didn t pay much attention to the post the first just the pictures but if you dont like the pace car as it is sell it. It would lose it orginal value without orginal hardware. You would have plenty enough to buy a white t/a with a 350. I would have but the orginal wheels back on if it was my car btw.

+1 for keeping it factory.
That car is very low production, you could definitely put it up for collector value and get yourself a formula or trans am to fiddle with.

Re: My 1983 Trans Am "Daytona" pace car
Eventually I'm going to get the Pro 5.0 shifter....I've heard nothing but good things about them. Unless anyone has a better suggestion like Hurst or B&M?

Definitely keep it two-tone... that's what makes a Daytona pace car...
