Lowered 82-90 Trans Am's Please

I am currently working on my car, again, and right now its stripped down in the pop up garage in my back yard , again. Now that it currently isnt my daily driver anymore i am doing some good work to it, im repainting all the parts that chipped a bit (some spots of rust have showed up too as i live near the ocean and rust is inevitable) and putting 3.73's in and at the end of the summer im getting a rebuilt crate 350 TPI (or maybe 383 cuz my friend with his 78 z28 thinks hes so bad that he put a L82 motor in it and i really really want to toast him).

but anyway, i got off topic....sorry, one of the last things i will be doing after i no longer need ground clearance to slide a jack under it i will be lowering it. the question is if i want to lower it by 1 or 2 inches, i will keep the stock rims but i do have a bit larger tires on it right now: 255/50016. will it clear the inner wheel wells? but most importantly i'd like to see how it looks before i do it lol. thanks guys!

Re: Lowered 82-90 Trans Am's Please

you have any clearance issues? and are those larger size tires on the stock rims? cuz i wasnt sure if i'd have an issue with turning clearance on mine, there a bit larger size tires.

i like the 2" drop, it looks good. may just do that when this thing is all done. 1" just seemed like a lot of work for un-noticeable results

I have no clearance issues. The tires on the sotck rims are 245/50/16's, stock size tires. Even with the M/T's on the Pro Stars, there's no rubbing or clearance concerns.

Re: Lowered 82-90 Trans Am's Please

I dont think you would. I have lots of clearance so you should be able to get away with that tire size.

Thanks for the compliment!

Sry man, I've seen my share of pics of TAs lowered with stock wheels. Mine is going to retain the factory stock deep dish 15s with an Eibach Prokit. lol.

lol well i normally see these cars lowered with like corvette rims. IMO i cant seem to find a corvette rim that looks better than the stock rims on these firebirds.

once im done with this car i'll be getting lowering springs for it though
