Re: Installed and Painted 4th Gen TA Spoiler
The install was pretty easy, it took me around 1 hour, you need to remove all the studs on the 4th gen spoiler except for the one rear left and right studs, so basically the whole spoilers only getting bolted down by 2 studs, BUT its actually very sturdy even though it doesnt sound like it would be sturdy. I drilled the two new holes as close/far up on the decklid before the glass, DO NOT drill through the glass cause it will probably break, then i extended the short legs on the decklid of the spoiler down with some cheap plastic sign material that i cut into ovals and built them up till they touched the decklid, then i screwed them into the short legs to hold their positions and fiberglassed + sanded them to shape and it worked perfectly, the 3rd brakelight also plugs right in to the existing connector for the old one.

yeah i would prefer 17 inch ROH rims but these will work for now, and i dont get why the nose is so high up, the springs are stock from 89 is the stock height supposed to sit up that high?

The 4th gen wing is basically a taller version of the 91-92 formula/gta aerowing.

Yeah i was thinking about doing that to the middle legs also when i get mines. I also like the way they smoothed the rear bumper on that purple camaro were the emblems go. Looks like imma hve to get 2 of these spoilers, 1 for the Formula & 1 for the Iroc. Looks awsome 88cam thanks for the inspiration & pics.

Re: Installed and Painted 4th Gen TA Spoiler
^^^ just popped in a 4th gen rear out of a 1995 z28 $150 (3.43, 28 spline, LT1 rear brakes, Posi) it gives so much more launch than my old 2.73s, had to make new brake lines and used the 3rd gen brake line T it took me like 10 mins, then everything bolted up it was so easy! heres pictures of the wider rears, and i threw in a functioning pic of the 3rd brake light.

Looking good, i got a free 4th gen rear end myself a few years back. Dont know from what year? Did the e-brake cable work or did you have to.buy a longer one?

The trans am leather stuff are going in my Formula + the spoiler, the interior is grey. I also have a complete 2000 SS black leather camaro interior for my '92 Z28. Both are complete interiors from dash to hatch & i mean everything...lol

Re: Installed and Painted 4th Gen TA Spoiler
i like it, since i installed one as well, but i think it flows better on a 91/92 style with the ground effects on the doors, the "swoop" of the wing matches exactly with 91/92 trans am ground FX, also matches the RAII angle/swoop hood exactly, my cars almost done, ill be posting pics, and it is being slammed 3 inches due to the light weight of the new drivetrain. Still looks nice on your car, i agree with the lowering, it will look 10 times better if you slam that car.

Re: Installed and Painted 4th Gen TA Spoiler
Not bad, but I think that the two inner posts need to go IMO, it looks much cleaner and seems to flow with the lines of the car better.
I have been thinking of what to do with my aging factory vinyl wing, and I may just go this route, but as mine is an '86, the third brake light is externally mounted, so I would probably delete the one on the 4th gen spoiler.

i think it looks great. i just dont like those tail lights. I think the other t/a taillights would make it look much better. but love the spoiler man.

Re: Installed and Painted 4th Gen TA Spoiler
yeah the tail lights grew on me, i wanted to keep the car with the original formula look but the reproduction spoiler from hawks was over $500 so i went the alternative route with the 4th gen spoiler, and i still have the original rims so i can return the car back to stock fairly easily if i wanted to... if i can get a hold of a fiberglass wrap around spoiler, but the 4th gen is a good alternative and weight saver compared to stock

93-97 & 98-02. 93-97 fits...98-02 "fits" but leaves gaps between the bottoms & the car. And I'm not just talking about the center 2 posts that need to be extended on all of the 4th gen wings.

Anyone off hand have a measurement reference for where the bolt holes need to be drilled?
I don't want to guess..
Just finished welding shut the factory holes. Trying to get this thing ready for paint.

Sorry for the bump, but which studs did you mean exactly on the spoiler to remove? the ones closer to the glass, or the ones closer to the taillights?
