I might be getting a Camaro that has a t56 in it and everything. I want to put it into my formula and put the auto from the formula into the Camaro. So I want to switch the 2. Both cars are running. I can bring them to Sac, but we will need a place to work on them.

How much would you want? I am willing to give a set of vortec Heads if you do the swap ( Ill help as much as I can).

Putting a auto in a manual car might be a bit harder, need a way to cover the shifter hole from the factory and a way to mount the shifter. also do u plan to straight up swap consoles? camaro to firebird?

I haven't decided yet. I would rather not. When I cut the tranny tunnel from the firebird, I could weld it into the Camaro couldn't I?

Also, I would be willing to give a set of GTA Cross Laces (black) with good tires (85%) in some sort of combo. Wheels + Cash..Etc

Having two cars that you want to keep both running will make it really hard.

Having a "Donor car" makes the swap not too bad. As you can cut wires long and cut the trans tunnel oversize and trip it down before you weld it into the car. Trying to swap one to the other and then the other one back from the left over parts is going to make it quite a cluster F**k.

It can be done but your taking a pretty easy job. Switching from an auto to a T56. And making the second half of the job really time consuming. To do what you want to do. You are going to have to cut out the trans tunnel exact in both cars and weld them in in the exact same spot on both cars.

Don't forget you have to swap over the spedo cables, clutch pedals, neutral safety switches, electrical regarding the ECM, trans cross members, drive shaft, clutch lock out linkage, clutch assembly, holes in the firewall, back up light switch, and I am sure a few more other things. Most of the parts are remove and reinstall on the other vehicle. This is not a one day change over.

I am not sure you realize what a big job tis is.

Can I take the T56 Camaro and put a t5 in it? Would that be easier? I am just looking to sell the camaro and recoup some money. It is a 1992 Z28 with a 305TPI W/ Subframe connectos, T-Top, and a few mods.

It depends on what T56 is in the Camaro?

The later T56 (factory ones) use a reverse pull clutch and are a different length. You will need to make or get a new tranny cross member, get a longer driveshaft, and the spedo cable won't work. You will also have to address the hyd clutch, bell housing, and clutch flywheel issues.

Anything can be done. It is just money. You need to look at how much it is going to cost you for the conversion, vs the time involved. You can get a retro T56 pretty cheep these days. I do no what you looking to spend or what your getting the donor car for?

A 1992 Z28 would have a T5 in it not a T56

A T56 from a '93-'97 Camaro was swapped in. I think I may do the swap, sell the engine, and try and part it out for as much as I can. I can get the whole car for 2,000. Just needs a new fuel pump. It has the mods above with vortec heads.

Um, so why not just put a fuel pump in the Z28 and drive it? Is the body/paint really bad or something?

It wouldn't be a one day job but wouldn't necessarily be that difficult. Both cars are electronic speedo, etc. Most of it would be swapping parts, other than obviously cutting the shifter hole in one and patching the other, and mounting an A4 shifter in the manual car.

Honestly, it seems silly to buy and butcher the car just for the T56.
