COMPLETE REBUILD
I have been with out my bird for 6 months now. I have gutted the interior removed the engine and tranny and started sanding the crappy macco paint job off that the previous owner had done. Along with my buddy fryer we decided to do complete tear downs on both of our third gens and build them from the bottom up together. I will posting pics soon of the build process and wanted to see if you guys where still serious about doing a get together this spring or summer. I might be able to get you guys a awesome deal for hotel rooms or we can just camp some where. lassen Co has a lot of nice places to camp so its up to you guys to decide if you want to do this. Any way back to topic how many of you guys are currently doing a complete tear down and rebuild?

I remember seeing the old owner driving it around all the time. Looked good. But that was about 4-5 years ago... Lets see some pictures.

Re: COMPLETE REBUILD
The old owner did a very good job painting her orange but when u get up close alot of mistakes were made lol. One they painted over the t-top weather striping and when i removed the tops last year it ripped off alot of the seals lol. two the car was org painted BLUE. orange and blue dont mix. Also i always wanted a bare bones carbed v8 engine. the interior was shot and thanks to fryer i now have a brand new dash pad seat belts and a few other hard to find peices that was missing. last year i redid the interior and painted everything black except the carpets and dash. i decided to strip everything out and first coat all metal with that rubber coating stuff. lol i cant remember what it is called. The drivers side fender has a dent right above the turn signal wich caused the whole fender to bend out of alignment. fryer and i are going to try to straighten it out but we havent attempted it yet. goint to replace all bushing on the car and paint every part that comes off. The car had a real bad rattle to her in the rear end i think it is the lower control arm bushings but i am going with after market arms any way . i am going to weld in once i get the carpet out a main hoop i havent decided if i want a full cage yet but we will see. I bought the car for 2300 bucks last feb. i have already sunk in close to 1500 and my parts list keeps on growing. right now to finish the car with all of my upgrades not including a new hugger orange paint job im looking at 3500 bucks I want long tube headers but i have a manual tranny so hooker 2210s are the way i have to go but at 500 dollar price tag the exhaust will be last on the list. I was going to rewire the car but for now we are going to trim the harness and put all new loom on. I will take some pics tonight and attach it to this thread. My wife and i just bought a home so the bird wont be on the road again any time soon. Once we get moved in and spring comes the res of the tear down will begin. So i will keep you guys posted on her progress.

Re: COMPLETE REBUILD
The rubber stuff you are meaning is the rubberized undercoating. I agree with the others, you should post some pics of your progress. Some of those pics from our engine pulling day would be sweet. Speaking of your pics, I still need to come by and get the pics you have on your computer of us pulling my Z28 home.
I vote 8-point cage.

Re: COMPLETE REBUILD
I'm pretty sure he is referring to the WAY up nor-cal GTG I have posted in the sticky section. Still working on the what and when, but we are hoping for a large turn out, probably early June.
