Side project
While I am still putting the motor back together I finally got around to getting this done. I dont think I need to explain what it is. If your not sure, take a guess.
On the topic of my blown headgasket, after removing the heads I decided to pull all the pistons due to obvious signs of detonation. I had scuffs on my cylinder walls and piston skirts. Everything has been cleaned up now. I honed my engine block to get fresh cross hatches in it. New piston rings will be here tomorrow and assembly begins. between work and school I have had not much time to work on this so it has been only a few hours at a time. This new mod will prevent future detonation at least!

Re: Side project
You got it on second guess.
It is a 50/50 mix water/meth.
increase octane.
Decrease combustion temperatures.
Overall better for the engine and because of these two reasons, increases power as a side effect.
No more detonation

Re: Side project
damn skippy!
Oh okay...I heard water injection is hard on the rings and can cause them to crack/split/break also?

Re: Side project
Hopefully it's a proper setup with failsafe/monitoring features and that your magical tuning equipment can account for it.
I was always curious if you tune for it and your pump fails, or runs dry, then what happens? Unhappy pistons? haha. I'm sure there is a warning though.

Re: Side project
I have not heard that. Maybe in diesel applications. I will be running 50/50 so I doubt it.

You don't really tune for it, it is a detonation suppressor. If it stopped functioning for any reason then the knock sensor would pick up the detonation and pull back the timing and you would lose the power. It isnt anything extreme like nitrous, but on average, dyno results suggest an average of 5-10% hp gain.
