Yellow Camaro at Vette Fest

Did anyone see the Yellow 85 camaro at Vette fest? It was a 9 second car with a big block. I took a look under it, and noticed that it did not have any sub-frame connectors or a strut tower brace. For that matter, the owner had the front springs out and was running on only the struts.
The reason I note this, is I have seen many people swear that even stock Camaros need to be reinforced. This is a pretty beefy car that is running on the stock unibody.
I just wanted to note this and see what others felt about it.

well it surely had a cage if it was a 9second car right? possibly reinforced the whole thing from the top not the bottom.

well if he welded the cage points to the tops of the subframes both front and rear it would be a similar setup to welding the subframes in. I on the other hand will be doing subframes and a 6 point....why not right?

Perhaps you mean this Camaro. ^_^ sorry for the crappy blur. The camera didn't like the low lighting very much.

that's a lot more than a 6 point cage there.

Car: '01 sonoma & '91 camaro
I checked that car out and with the cage in it, that thing should be very solid. and as far as a STB, why would it be neccessary on a drag car?

we need a STB to help us take the corners. yeah, there could be minimal help to a drag setup but not enough to really need it. and the plate he had welded across the inner fenderwells would take care of most things the STB would do.

After taking these points into consideration, I retract my original statement.

I think I've seen pics of this car before, and if i recall correctly (and i may not) the "plate he had welded across the inner fender wells" was a front engine mount plate and has nothing to do with reinforcing anything. But i have been wrong before.....once....

i think it's a mid engine mount plate as well.
