looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

for me i have numerous.........motor is coming out in november for a new cam, intake, carb and a noisy gear drive (love the sound), while the motor's out car is getting tied together and then painted (with new cowl hood) FINALLY!!!!!! car comes back and time to mount my new "addition" in the trunk/hatch call it what you will, and then the new rear is getting put in and motor back under the hood and time to rock and roll, theres tons of little things too like cleaning up wire routes and speakers for the tunes etc. of course this is if everything goes as planned which looks good now but we'll see.............how about you guys?

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

Trying to make room in the garage so I can put the '90 in there and work on it over the winter. Should be running this week and drivable next week. Then the tedious bodywork will be the winter job.

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

Hopefully building a shortblock and then purchasing a few more solenoids and nozzles to add a couple more stages of nitrous Need to multi-stage so I don't try to send too much torque through my Spec 3

Aside from that? HID lights, sound-deaden the entire inside of the car, and prep/paint new hood.

Dude Tim is selling a PERFECT winter beater. I'm sure he'll see this and PM you.

1986 Toyota Camry. Not the coolest car in the world, but the damn thing just won't die. Few small things wrong with it, but nothing that it hasn't been driving with for the past 2-3 years. I'm sure he'll see this and PM you about it

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

Finish doing both rear quarters and then aligning the front body panels then painting the car.

Pulling the blown 355 out of it, and replacing it with the new motor that is being built.

Hopefully then it will be spring and the car will actually be finished.

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

There are always winter projects:

buy heater for my garage first...any one got one for sale local...looking for tube type

'92...Interior leather seats are getting recovered as we type in black leather with gold trim...should look sweet and give me a run at best interiors at 3rd gen fest 08...looking for new shifter plate...new drivers floor pan...exterior repaint of my doors and mirrors....install in dash DVD player ...add crossover and 4 channel amp for front speakers...sub frame connectors....strut tower brace if I find one to fit my modifications of CAI already in the car...trans shift kit...new rear tires or all around if I have enough cash

'86...Install new interior charcoal seats...inexpensive paint job....body work is finished...fix both window motors...remove door window tint...new tires

probably more but as always money will determine how much more I do...

well tell Tim to get on the ball

my GTA won't be too good on snow, not to mention I don't want salt up in everything, hence why I want a cheapy car to putt around in for a few months

Heads and cam swap for my '98...and...the search begins for a third gen since it somehow doesn't seem right in the garage without mine around anymore. So, if anyone has a lead on a cheap TRANS AM 86 to 90 (t-tops a must) send me a PM. Don't care about the motor but the body must be rust free.

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

Thats all for her this year it was a beautiful mid 70's sunny day, drove around for about 2 hours put stay-bil and topped the tank. Gave it a good cleaning inside and out, and is now in winter storage, plan on refinishing the GTA wheels this winter and some general maintenance maybe rebuild the steering components.
I want to get the bumpers and formula hood painted this winter but we'll see how the money situation is doing before that.

Just before putting the cover on her.

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

i hope you plan on putting a sheet of plastic under that car since in the winter the concrete will wick out moisture which will rust out those floorpans. I randomly go into our attached garage and the plastic is completely soaked with water droplets under the plastic.

yes the moisture wicks out of the concrete since the ground will be frozen or close to it. My garage is attached as well and the floor still has moisture, you can't tell unless you put plastic down. But I'll have droplets everywhere on the plastic during january-february cold cold weather. Garage is heated, but the concrete isn't heated

Thats a hell of a deal, i just went out there to pick up the relocation kit and Mt Et street radials, he gave me both for $100 and the Mt's only have about 6 passes on them. Thats a great deal on the 402. I am taking my ls1 block in next week to get built with the forges rods and pistons. Looks like were both going to have pretty built cars next year.

If all goes well, I will have a 1983 TA to tinker with by December. If that doesn't iron out, I have my Charger to deal with. Always something to do on that car.

Re: looks like the weather is going down hill......winter projects??

I was hoping that I could make it through this winter without dumping a ton of cash into the Camaro, but I have failed.
I just treated myself to some new Prostar wheels 15x10 5.5bs (I did not have the courage to do the 6.5bs at this time, but they look awesome xpndbl3) and 15x4 for the front. They are wraped in Mickey Thompson S/R 26" tires.
The car is getting some new paint also. I will post pics as soon as it is all together in about 4 weeks.
I also ordered a vanity plate for the car: NAP TIME

blown....you going 28" slick in the rear? I'm guessing with that gear and a supercharger it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yes, for slicks I will use a 28", I just like the look of the 26" tire for the street.

good deal, I run 28s on all 4 corners myself. I'm happy with the extra clearance for the chin spoiler on trailers.

Wow, I forgot about this thread. Plans changed AGAIN since last time I posted in it. I actually HAVE the parts for this project this time *cough* Procharger *cough*

I'd also like to mention that there are going to be quite a few thirdgens and fourthgens that are going to be MUCH MUCH faster next year than they were this year, but I'm not giving out any secrets :P

Yeah, I have been following some of the members projects, and it seems there will be some heavy hitters next year. We will have to get together at the track sometime.
