Thought you'd enjoy this

I know this is a DIY Prom forum, but I think you guys would appreciate this.
1/2 mile drags for speed. Here's an LT-5 that reached 160mph in 2640ft.
All motor btw and needs a better tune too.

Don't have one from the 1/2mile event, but here's one from a Corvette Challenge Drags last year. The motor noise as I'm lining up is not my car.

I thought there was pretty much zero aftermarket support for those? How did you get the power levels up?

There is hardly any mainstream aftermarket support for the LT-5. However, like other cars on this forum, it's one hell of a DIY project. Plus it always had way more potential than the stock configuration. It's still a C4 so some exhaust items work and headers are available from several sources albeit not cheap.
Porting of the intake + exhaust puts u at 400rwhp. Port the heads and you're at 435, then add re ground intake and exhaust cams which raise power to 455-475rwhp. And that's just if u continue to use the stock 5.7L bottom end.
Other builds include 368,380,385,396,415,427, and 441 CID. Some are turbo.
One owner did a purpose built 427 putting out 700+ chp! and that's ALL MOTOR.
There's a very active ZR-1 community out there with several tuner/builders and parts vendors serving it. Things like injectors, filters, sensors and coil packs are off the shelf items. Other items come from cars being parted out.
The motor itself is bullet proof. Simply an anvil. You can't kill it.

Used to have a 90, stock with catback/4.09 gear would trap 108-110 depending all day long couldnt kill that thin

It was fun just not fast enough for me.

No it's not a Lingenfelter. It's an FBI (Fast BoyZ of IllinoiZ) car. It actually belongs to Al Dashto. It ran 160 in the 1/2 mile and runs mid 10's @134 in the 1/4. Fast enough?

Re: Thought you'd enjoy this

i have a friend who actually does own a lingenfelter zr1. its a red 1990 with a 388" (i think?) and he brought it out for our hard street tire races we had a few years back. i want to say it was running 7.30s-7.40's in the 1/8 on some michelin pilots. n/a with no nitrous. he had considered selling it a few times but the values of the cars are a bit skewed nowadays so i think he kept it. i would love to own one.

Well now is the time to buy one. There's a 91 for example w a few mods trapping 118 for about 13k, 60k miles and in good condition.
