Are you really running it for pinks? Planning on nitrous? What times do you plan on it running?

NO Pinks all out is for 10k cash lol.

Dont know about the bottle yet & havent got a clue on what she will run. but shes a 355 with LT1 crank & rods, AFR heads (dont remember what they are right off the top of my head) a Computer friendly, lingenfelter cam, plus the hSR.

To go along with that I have a Megasquirt computer system that I am shoving in the car.

Tammy,

Is that a March power-steering bracket? I was looking at that, or the summit branded branded correct-align bracket. How is the fitment on it, without the attachment to the cyl. head?

That should make for a pretty healthy small block! What transmission is going behind it?

Re: Update on car

while putting the engine in the car, we went looking for the bolts for the engine mounts (engine mounts (block) to the Engine Mounts (frame)) couldnt find them so we went out today & found some (local hardware store Grade 8 bolts lol) but we forgot washers that would fit lol.
So we are another day with out the engine being off the cherry picker.

SO When taking engine apart & rebuilding it MAKE SURE ALL BOLTS ARE IN SEALED CONTANORS until you need them lol.

Re: Update on car

What shop is it going to? It's sad, as part of the fun is thrashing on the car to get it ready, but understandable. Hope your hubby is doing ok after surgery, wish him my best!

Lee came over a couple years ago & offered to put the engine in for me for a low amount of money ( I wish Back then I would have taken him up on it)

Re: Update on car

well the cars in the shop, it arrived just shortly before 7pm tonight, & they were waiting for me. (under a mustang), they said it would most likely take about 24 hrs (of work) to get the car running & they will ship me pics as things get going. So maybe next week? maybe? I am not holding my breath for that one.

but its a good thing, shes in good hands. even though they drive & work on mustangs.

dont know if they can or not. Will figure that out when time comes.

Hes racing Pinks as well, so hes doing this as a favor & getting paid to do it.

He has a magic 8 ball in his office & I asked it if I will be racing in Pinks & IT SAID YES so I hope I can.

Next step is after this is finish is getting the car up to monroe to the guy that is going to be building the rest of of sub. stuff.

Re: Update on car

went to the shop today & they had almost all the wireing done. & were waiting for the tranny coolant lines (which I took over there) Plus a few other things.,
I got to go back over there tomorrow because we didnt have the dpi stick for the tranny with the car (Dumb me)
They do have the new computer in stalled & It sounds like its going to work with the system.

so we should hear her run sometime early next week.
& have her home by late next week as well.

Its a buick skylark that has been painted in the 1970 Yellow GSX styling, they never made that color in 72 & didnt make the GSX in a vert that year

nope car not going to make it $2400 & the car still isnt ready. One SFC is up, Toruqe arm wasnt even installed (we had to do that on the trailer after we got the car home), it will start up but will not stay running. NOT HAPPY.

Just got back from reno & do not have time to make things right. I guess there is always next year. I will be racing next year at the track.

called PR this afternoon & told them I couldnt race They wanted the name of the guy who did my car (since hes racing too) but I didnt give it to them. Wasnt going to pull that game I have other ways I can do that.

anyways I will most likely be at the track on saturday to watch people race & to take pics & to enjoy things.

Car goes to a friends place this winter to get finished up (should only take a few days) so it will be racing next season.

Re: Update on car

My husband called the shop today asking why the oil coolant line adapter was behind my driver side seat (the only seat in the car currently) when it arrived at the shop installed in the engine.

the guy who supposely worked on the car said it was hitting the something, D(D is my husband) called BS on that.

Then asked why they told us that the MSD Dist, we had didnt work with the computer again. Of course they gave him a run around on that as well. D told them straight out that while we were down in reno this last week, we stopped & Talked to MSD (we had one in the car installed) about it & they called BS as well.

so I sat down & I filled a BBB report on the place.

Re: Update on car

Cow, I, and I assume most of the followers of this thread, would like to hear why the shop couldnt get your car running.

Your set up isnt wild, hell my 87 has larger AFR heads, larger headers etc and is controlled by the factory GM computer. Your set up should be easily have handled late 80's GM technology. If you want to get it running, send your build specific data to Ed Wright. He can burn a chip for you that is plug and play. SBC with a HSR and basic hardware should not be a problem for a reputable shop to tune.

Or, like I have mentioned before, try the Carb Connection in Totem Lake ( Kirkland). They have the knowledge to tune anything.

I was looking forward to seeing a 3rd gen get into the main event. Hope the CC gets one in.
