Supercharged Sea Doo.. Pics of blower

This is kinda off the thirdgen subject, but since I am employed by Bombardier, I just wanted to share some pics of the new supercharger in the 4 tec watercraft with you guys.

The compressor only puts out about 5 psi of boost, but our R & D claims it adds 30 hp over the N/A version. I took the compressor apart and posted some pics on my website if anybody wants to check it out.

Here's one, and you can click the link if you want to see the rest.

Are they looing to add this to a factory-delivered product? Or just as a kit for the go-fast crowd? Or is it just a factory play-thing?

This watercraft is absoloutely available right now as we speak. We have more then 10,000 units in the field currently. If you click the link, the last page shows the watercraft with the blower installed as it is from the factory.

The idea for a kit would probably be too expensive. The pistons and camshaft are different in the Blown Version.

I went to the river with ours yesterday and saw top speeds of 61 MPH on the radar gun. It's fun to ride!

So, uh........ how do I get a ride on one of these things. I've ridden non-turbocharged jet skis and PWC that would push up over 50 MPH and that felt real fast. I suspect that you weren't totally topped out when you hit the radar gun in the turbo flyer or do I have an unrealistic expectation of how much faster it could go?

I seen this new 4-tec, since I've been following PWC for a while. I want to buy one, but $9,000 is a bit much for me.

Yamaha had the highest HP motor for the longest time....N/A triple carbed 3-banger (1200cc) was putting out like 155 HP. This year their N/A (1296cc) is putting out like 165HP.

Seems like everyone is bringing out the 4 strokes though....I guess the 2-stroke will be going the way of the dinosaurs.

Say, since you work at Sea-doo....what's the most you've ever seen one modified for power? I'd be interested in hearing what you guys have done!

A speedo on a boat is FAR from accurate. Changes in current flow, head wind, and just about everything else makes a big difference.

A radar gun is far more accurate for this. The only TRUE measurement of speed is Distance/Time.

I used to ride a Kawasaki 900cc wave runner all the time, too bad it got stolen. While the speedo would read 60mph, I'm sure I was traveling an honest 50mph. You've never been so glad to wear a wet suit when you hit the water *** end first at 50mph.

Can you say lake enema? I think I can say that I'm one of the few people who know what a skipping rock feels like. I skipped about 4 times on the water before I finally suck. I was wearing a full body wet suit with a life jacket. I barely felt the impact as I hit the water.

Damon, where do you live exactly? I would be happy to reccomend one of our dealers in your area that might be able to let you hop on for a test ride. As far as the top speed goes, it is definately a genuine radared 61 MPH and needless to say with that supercharger, it gets there real fast...

Yeah, I know what you mean. It sure is expensive these days for that toy eh?? The powersports market has drastically changed in every aspect over the past 5 years. The best analysis that I could make in this situation would be this however... THIS watercraft is like a street bike.. Other older and different models could be compared to a dirt bike...

As far as the most modified watercraft? Hmm.. I have seen some wicked mod motors and fast stuff thats for sure. I used to be a marine technician and I worked on lots of them, but 1 stands out.
It was a 97 GSX LTD Seadoo. It had twin pipes, ported polished cyls, milled head, novi carbs, r&d intake, aftermarket reeds, and the list goes on. I saw it hit 72 on the radar. To those of you who think that is slow, if I put you on that boat you would be scared I bet. That thing FELT fast and it really was...

This is absoloutely true. Our boats use a "paddlewheel" design that measures how fast the boat travels through the water. But that can't take into accout a current for instance. Radar or GPS is the best. Not to mention that watercraft of ANY brand are famous for the speedo systems being calibrated to err way high..
