working hood louvres
Has anyone modified the stock IROC hood louvres and hood to make them funktional. We like to keep the stock look and still get some of the turbo heat out.

i suppose you could, but it would seriously be a pain to do, cut through the hood, and then to cut the louvers and make them functional, would be a serious pain the butt to do, but if you get it done and done right, it would be way cool

I would recomend making another hood with fiberglass and work on that one. That way you can keep yours without risk or maybe sell it. I am planning on making my own hood using my stock hood as a mold, nothing complicated, no hinges just clips to hold it down. On this new hood I will make all kinds of holes and louvers that I want.

Thats a sweet looking hood.
Another thing to thinbk about if you make all the louvers functional. Weather. Surely don't want cold rain hitting hot turbo's. Even the best of the best weather days can turn so fast you have no place to run.

I thought about that after I posted those pics. You cannot see the vents in the back of the raised portion of the hood where most of the heat will be released (I hope anyway- I know the cowl area is also a pressure area at speed, but the heat should escape at slow speeds or at stops). The NACA ducts are more for looks than anything else, but I was hoping air will enter them and remove heat out the cowl area or under the car.
This is a fair weather car so water intrusion shouldn't be a problem (hopefully I won't get caught in a surprise rainstorm too often).
