turbo and a carb???

i was just thinking about different options of forced induction for a small block im gonna be building soon, and i was wondering if a carb'ed turbo small block is worth my time?...

and also.. would you use a Vortech carb enclosure or something like that and how would you tune the air/fuel ratio to meet the demands of the forced air?

if any of you turbo guys have any advice thatd be great,
thanks

u could try to duplicate the turbo setup they did on the 81 trans am with the 301 turbo....heard they suffered hardcore turbo lag though so good luck....

read the stickies... in several of them are links....

in the websites they link to, they have info... including entire messageboards dedicated to turbo carbed cars.

While it is definatly possible to run this type of setup i would have to consider it as a more advanced hotrodder project. Just think about it this way. How many cars were there running turbo gasoline engines before fuel injection? And how many are there now?

Carb or EFI?

Hi 5literTPIterror,

I would go with the EFI. You could get the parts cheap at eBay and in the long run you won't regret it.

I can think of several turbo/carb combo's running good times. The guys at www.turbomustangs.com have several mootangs running 8's and 9's with the turbo/carb combo. ATI has an old nova with carbs and blower running 8's on pump gas. A friend of mine runs low 9's with his sbc chevelle with paxton/carb combo. The list goes on and on.

I was talking about stock vehicles. I'm also not saying that they cant be fast. Just that its a more difficult way to go.
