Relay with purge?

Curious as to whether anyone runs relays for their purge solenoids? I was just wondering if I should spring the extra $4 and throw in a relay to protect the solenoid.

Iwould think that one small solenoid would not need a relay. I dont think that it draws more than 1/2 an amp. any quality switch ought to work.

I think i might just throw a 5amp fuse in there. I am running it with a 20 amp switch, so I assume nothing bad will happen.

A fuse is a good idea on anything electrical.
A relay won't protect the solenoid. It protects the switch. A relay allows you to use a switch that is rated for less current than the load it controls.

A fuse is an automatic for me so i did not consider that it would not have one. specially on something like a coil that has the potential to pull large current in a failure, not like a bulb or something that just typically just opens & stops working.
Sorry for the assumption.
