air cleaner question

I have the original air cleaner for my 5.0 carbed camaro. Theres a little metal slinky looking type piece that connects to the car i beleive for helping cold starts. I was wondering how much it really helps???

Also if I switch to an open element air cleaner like an edelbrock one or something will I haft to plug that hole the previous cleaner connected to or leave it?

Re: air cleaner question

rip that out and ignore it.

you will notice on the manifold where it mounts there is nothing there but a mount.

It does nothing but use heated air from the manifold.
