Re: 1985 Z28 modified

Yes the car is still available. As from my Profile, the car is in Elkton, MD. If you're traveling to the mid-atlantic after the new year, we can
certainly schedule a showing.

Re: 1985 Z28 modified

Its been in storage for almost 8 years, so it most likely needs all the fluids, belts, hoses, etc. checked or replaced, tires checked,
but otherwise it was running and driving when put away.

Re: V10 in my GTA :)

The viper input shaft has different gear tooth mesh than any other T56. You need to make sure you get the ultra-rare viper countershaft to mate with your viper input shaft or you'll have issues.

Re: Need help Identifing a T-56

Yup.. I know for a fact that the lockout is one part that's the same on all T56s (viper, GM, ford) and even carried through to the new tr6060, so it's definitely a tremec part.

I've never seen Tick selling anything as the cheapest source. thegearbox.org is the best source for low cost tremec parts.

Re: Newbie needs help. Did I get the wrong bellhousing for my ls3 t56 magnum swap?

You have a $5000+ motor, a $3000 trans, and you protect them and your legs with a $200 stock bellhousing..

Not much to test, but you can try putting the trans in each gear, and hold the outputshaft while trying to turn the inputshaft. Put some cheap fluid in and tip it forward to make sure the input seal...

Yup, I had this issue also. Check with Jegs as mentioned for another plate. My Spohn arm was an early version so I had to buy a new plate with the 9" holes.

Re: t56 question

So you just need one for a LS1 Fbody (98-02) or GTO T56. Don't get one that's listed for an LT1 or from the ('93-'97) Fbodies.

There's nothing wrong with buying new, but you're getting a stock...

Re: t56 question

If you want one to work with a SBC/T5 setup now, and a LSx later, then get a LS1 Fbody (98-02) or GTO T56 and use the adapter plate. http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/item/3838217/4803441.htm

Re: 454 t56 swap!!

Re: has any one done a corvette ZF-6 speed swap into a third gen

This is subjective. The 95mm centerline distance of the ZF6 makes for a stronger gearset over the 85mm T56, but the Zf gears are thinner and the synchronizers are overly complex. Comparing...

Some older 5.3 and 6.0s have larger crank flanges, so...
