If you're putting in aftermarket gauges, they don't HAVE to be 5", but the speedo and tach were somewhere around there in stock form.

The other gauges were somewhere around 2 1/8"

That gauge isn't oil temperature, it's your oil pressure. If it was a temp gauge, it'd have a bigger scale.

If your oil pressure was hitting 0, then you had a problem.

It should move a little...

I'd check your wiring on the switch side first, then check your switch, it should be in the passenger side cylinder head between the last two plugs IIRC.

I'd say just stick to one of the cheapos. Purolators have never failed me before, and I can buy a load of them for the price of a K&N.

I don't have the specific part number, since its been a while since I bought them, but they're TRWs. Most of them still have the numbers visibleon thetop,showing how much I haven't used them.

These have maybe 20 miles of easy driving on them. Upgrading to 1.6 with a bigger cam, so don't need these anymore.

The only other ones that will work are the ones out of 4th gens. They work because they have the same suspension set up as 3rd gens.
