no. 70-81 fbody is a closer fit but you have to have a machine shop drill out the upper balljoint on the spindle to work with the 66 a-arm. even then it's a b#tch to get the alignment correct.

LT1 cams have the distributer gear on them like all other first gen. cams. They also have the fuel pump lobe as well.

AutoZone (in Ohio anyway) sell a quick ratio remanufactured box for around $120. can't remember if the warranty is 1yr or lifetime.

you need a nuetral safety switch and harness, the wiring for the lockup torque converter, and if its a fuel injected car, you'll need a PROM for an automatic.
Why don't you just change the clutch?...

You've probably got a non-world class t5 tranny. Unfortunatly, it sounds like you've got a bearing going out of the transmission and it may be getting ready to let loose.
