Ok, I see what you mean. That makes sense then. The question is what do I do for a key? How do I get the car to start normally? Can I put a VATS key ignition in it and go, or to I have to reprogram...

Thanks Deadbird. The problem is someone monkeyed with the ignition and put a non vats in it. If I replace the ignition with a correct VATS key, how do I get the car the recognize the new ignition?...

Thanks Mike. I'd LOVE for him to hook up his scan tool. There are 2 problems with that. 1. The old scanner doesn't have a GM OBD1 adapter. 2. The new scanner (4 grand) decided it was a smoke machine...

Oh, I forgot. The car carries 42lbs of fuel pressure. It doesn't leak down. I'm not sure where to go from here. The car has black smoke from startup and strong fuel smell. It idles like it's on 7...

Well, that explains why I thought the rear was broken/worn out. I simply replaced the rear with a good posi unit with the same gears. Thanks for the info.

I sold my formula last year, it was an 87 WS7 car. My understanding is that WS7 and WS6 were the same suspension with the exception on disc brakes. My car didn't have discs but WAS a genuine formula....

I know. The vette is worth much more cashwise but the Iroc is worth more "heartwise". I'll do you one better then that....I took my new girlfriend (now wife for 15 years) over to look at the vette....

Having owned 14 thirdgen f-body's, I like 'em BOTH! I currently have my black over tan 88 Iroc convertible and a 91 red over black Z-28. I had to sell my white over gray 87 Formula last year....
