No, I always have the EST wire disconnected when playing with the timing. I wouldn't have gone through the hassle of a timing chain replacement without making sure that I was checking the timing...

I've never even heard of shortie plugs. These plugs are brand new Bocsh iridiums which were pretty expensive so I'm going to hold off on new ones until I need them.

Haha well the previous owner apparently had problems with it overheating so he cut the fans from the relay/switch circuit and wired up a switch in the cab that I turn on before starting the engine....
