A knock sensor is designed to detect spark knock (detonation/pinging) and retard engine timing until the knock is gone. That's completely different from a bottom end knock.

Get your IAT reconnected, that's what's throwing your code 23. With the circuit being open, the ECM is seeing infinite resistance on that circuit and is getting a reading of the air temperature...

If the distributor came off an engine that used a flat tappet cam, you'll need to change it when using it in conjunction with a roller cam. Call Comp cams and see which one they recommend.
