BTDT -- I was not happy till I put in a 350 for the 305. Waste of time and money on the 305. Don't get hung up on the HP numbers. Torque is what really matters.

That is true. All I'm saying is that if the struts hold open your hatch then take a look at your pull-down adjustment.

Well,I put on some new struts and they are no better than the ones I took off. Still only hold the hatch up after I lift it up. Have to lift hatch up to get it to stay in any position. Doesn't fall...

Might have weak struts but the hatch does stay open when I lift it by hand. I have the black wrap around spoiler and don't ever remember it opening up by itself even with new struts. That spoiler...

Be careful. I'm pretty sure GM used 26 spline axles up to 86 or 87. I've got a set of stock 26 splines from my 86 t/a ws6. Check your posi to make sure you get the right ones. Trying to help.

I had one of those 9-bolt rear ends and was told that a 3-series carrier will not fit in that housing. There is a 3.73 gear for your carrier but is kind of pricey. Check it out.
