Bellhousing and input shaft length are different. For the hassle to convert it you might as well sell the one you have and buy an LSx type T56 (that's what I did).

I have one as well. I had to hammer on the wheel well a bit to make it fit because, as Blue said, the base is huge compared to stock, but it works great.

That tube/line thing is the evap apparatus, purges the gas tank into the throttle body or intake (I can't remember which) when necessary to relieve pressure. There is a diagram on here somewhere...
