Re: L98 Engine issues

Was a long time ago when mine did that, I thought it was the IAC valve. Nope. But I unplugged the IAC and idle quit hunting. So that led me down a rabbit hole of what controls do the IAC use for...

Re: Fuel pump wont prime but car runs fine after it starts 1992 RS Camaro

Get a manual that can show you the location of the FP relay, ten lol around the engine bay, see if you have another one like it, use it, see if the pump primes. TPI cars use a few of the same...

4th Gen LT1, does the cam have a distributor drive gear?

I’ve come across carburetor conversions on the LT1, but the distributor drive gear thing is fuzzy on my Google searches.

Thanks.

Re: Recommendation for new fuel tank?

I met up with a guy who had a 90 or 91 Camaro he was working on, he told me he was going to use a 4 th gen poly tank.

Might be worth looking into.

I’m a bit away from trying it out ( have a...

Re: Crank end play

Some very good points raised. I think what I’ll do is now hang the rods and pistons. And see what type of crank walk I have.

WTF, it’s just time and effort;)

Lol. Like I mentioned before, I’ve never checked it, heck, crank turns, let’s keep going. To be honest I’ve only put together a few engines though. Couple of SBCs a few fords and flathead 6’s.

I'm sure you are well versed in your welding abilities, and I respect that.

Re: Crank end play

Ya, I know y’all been on the edge of your seat here;). So I grabbed a Helms off of eBay, just went through it. No spec for end play on V8’s, only 6’s at .002-.008. I’m gonna screw it together,...

I appreciate the info, but that's what I've done all the time over the years. Funny thing (well funny to me) is I've never checked endplay before, if something was amiss tightening down the caps,...

Re: Acceptable SBC Balancer Seal Surface Diameter??

Just me, but if there is not a groove where the seal rides, no reason for a sleeve.

Assume you will lower the oil pan and put the timing cover on? The bolt thing back up.

Crank end play

Anyone have their Helms manual handy? Can’t find mine. I’m at .0035 for end play, my old MoToRs manuals are too old for Chevy V8’s. but keep coming across sites saying .004-.011 as well as .002-.006....
