I actually went back to the yard and got a 4th gen f-body steering shaft and installed the end on the astro shaft that I bought. That way I didnt have to modify the steering column.

I bought two units, one from each, a 97 Astro and one from a 02 Safari. From what I can see both of them are clocked the same. The Astro version actually has a larger (more material) upper joint....

I would personally get new doors. The rust is probably already on the inside of the skin and would be hard to get rid off. Plus if you put patches in those areas you will need to bondo again or.......

Well imagine that!!! I plugged all the holes that I missed the first time, I did wonder why I had so many extra plugs... and now it shifts just fine. Didnt go fast enough to see fourth though.

I dropped my Valvebody and shift plate this morning. I forgot to plug some holes in the shift plate that Transgo clearly stated needed to be plugged...
