he's going a different route than you would be. Having the carb doesn't mean bad gas mileage automatically. 18+mpg on a 6.0 that is putting out over 400 RWHP is very good and if it was fuel injected...

yes the AWD turbo models are 300HP but they are pretty heavy cars. The non turbo is 200HP and they run in the 15's all day long.

The way the car is acting would suggest alot of things but i've seen this before on alot of cars and it ended up being the ECM went bad. I'd start checking sensors and relays first however.
