my 85 Trans Am, had it from day 1, so I’m sure...has a 9 Bolt with drums in the rear. No somsure they are that rare.

Box pulled when car was new and has been in storage since.

Make sure your fill bolt or rubber plug will come out before you drain or you won't be able to fill it back up later. Rep are for it to smell pretty bad.

Go for a synthetic and add a friction...

Assuming the 10.5" iron caliper with the aluminum PBRs on the back.
If so, this will be easier and I can do a front brake upgrade at a later date.

I have a rear axle out of a 1989. These are the PBR discs. What was the matching front brake rotor size and caliper for this year?

The swap will be going into a 1985 front disc, rear drum set...

I realize you stated you don't have an impact gun, but it seems to be the best fix. Soak it with some PB Blaster and hit it with an impact gun. Buy, rent, borrow or take it in...should come out...

Make sure the electrical connections are clean as well. The relay ground, switch and connections to the actuators are good place to look at after doing the cleaning mentioned above.
