Re: 9 bolt needed

Did you try Hawk's Third Gen?
I was there thursday picking up a 10 bolt disc rear.
They had a few 9 bolt rears and some were discs.
Don't know what gears were in them.
Give them a call and they will tell you what they have.

Re: 9 bolt needed

If you need one bad, check your local salvage yards. I picked one up for $300. Make sure where ever you find one, that the hubs are straight, not bent from a roll over etc.

You may have to get one with another ratio and do a gear swap......
I believe the old 9-bolt is hard to find parts for and the parts are expensive...
Just what I've been told, I have never had a third gen with one.
All mine have had 10 bolt rears.

Re: 9 bolt needed

It is difficult anymore. I ordered a PRO5.0 shifter in November. It arrived late July from being back ordered. Took until a few weeks ago to locate speedometer gears I needed and paid way way way too much for them. Can't find seat material for either car. Forget going to GM, they have nothing for these cars anymore. What few third gens that are in the junk yards around here are bare shells.
What gears were in the rears at HAWKS?
I know they had atleast one PBR disc 9-bolt because I was looking at it. It was sitting beside the 10-bolt I got. Was showing my friend the difference. I believe they had more 9-bolts, but I don't know what brake package they had on them.

Re: 9 bolt needed

I have a 3.42 10 bolt posi disc rear sitting in my garage

I know it isn't a 9-bolt, but the posi and brakes both worked when pulled

it is a 26 spline, with the older cast iron calipers.

$150 if you're interested
